We are a family of 4 with 2 children aged 5 and 3, so a triple room is feasible. :ast year we sytayed in a campanile triple room.

We are looking for an overnight stop, probably somewhere near Chateauroux. Not too far from the main road but not right on it. Ideally we would like something for the children to do after several hours in a car. 

Check out this  B&B hotel site. They do rooms with a double and two singles, called triple rooms. Some rooms also have mezanines.

We are also going to Sarlat (Soleil Plage) for two weeks in July. We have booked a triple room at the one in Orleans on the way down, and near Paris on the way back. I've not stayed in one before but they come highly recommended by a very fussy friend.

I can recommend the B&B hotels as I have stayed in the Calais branch a couple of times. If you go to www.eurapart.com you will find a full list of French hotel chains.
