Will be arriving at Calais after 3.00pm and would like to stay sonewhere quiet on the coast within easy driving distance for possibly the first couple of nights. Have got all the books but would love someones advice.

Cheers Andrew.

Hi Andrew & Welcome to UKCS

Why are you going to Nth France?

You may as well go to Devon its the same weather and the cows eat the grass & apples grow on the trees!

IF you can - head further south...

The Loire Valley is fantastic thats why we bought our campsite here!

Where ever you end up in France you will love!

Don't agree, with the first bit at least. Love Brittany and think it much superior to SW England better and quieter  roads, great sites better beaches better country side rivers canals, and as for the food .. .. .. .. .. feel hungry just thinking about it!

Can't argue with the last bit tho'.  :-))))

Hi and welcome to UKCS. It takes between 5 and 6 hours to get to the Loire and around 8 to the Dordogne or South Vendee coast.  All of France is lovely but its worth the drive south for the weather. Enjoy your trip.

Carol

You could get a really good deal from Speed ferries if you're going with out a trailer.  This would land you in Boulogne and just outside the town are quite a few campsites which would enable you to get your bearings.  Have to go with the others - just stay nort for a couple of days - the drive south will make it all worthwhile

Stuarts site looks beautiful as does

Where ever you choose you will love it - especially if the weather is good
