Lucky us, we're off to the Alicante region of Spain in a week or so, but can't find a decent map of the area. We have bought the Michelin map but this isn't very good as it only shows some of the roads, lacks contour lines and does not show areas of urbanisation.

Does anyone know if there are any maps of that area of similiar detail to the Ordnance Survey maps in the UK including showing footpaths?

They will laminate maps too for walking/cycling types

I had the same problem. They are available but I could not find a shop that stocked them in Spain. I eventually got some through a bookshop in Castellon but they had to order them, and I returned a few days later to collect them. I had to give a reason for wanting them.

They are military maps and mine are headed "Cartografia Militar De Espana", the scale is 1: 50,000 .They are very similar to OS maps with contours etc.

Mine also says Made for Military use 1975 ,2nd Edition 1993. Since most of Spain seems to have been built since then they have their limitations.

Try this link for Stanfords in Long Acre, London its a brilliant shop and if you can't find it here not sure you will find it anywhere. They have a very prompt postal service via the web.
