We are planning to visit Eurodisney and would welcome some advice from those of you who have been there. I know you can buy 2 or 3 day hopper passes, which allows entry into both parks.Do you really need 3 days to "do" Eurodisney or would we be wasting our money. Is it realistic to see everything over 2 days ?
Thanks
Nicki

You can do everything in 2 days, but you won't have much time to 'watch the world go by, chill out, or revisit your favourite rides!  We've been 3 times, and stayed for 5 nights (6 days) last time we went - still didn't want to come home!

It's a good idea to loosely plan your visit before you arrive - check out ride details on the webiste and decide on any you absolutely HAVE to do, or really aren't bothered about.

Pick up a park map when you arrive (City Hall have them) and take a couple of minutes to get your bearings - that big pink castle is extremely useful as a land-mark - if you aren't sure where you are, head for it and you'll soon find yourself back on familiar ground!

The most popular rides have 'fast-pass' - you put your park ticket in a machine and it gives you a timed ticket for the ride - return at your allotted time and you'll only have to queue for a few minutes.  If you want to ride Peter Pan (and I would recommend it - it's magical!), head there first and get your fast-passes - it's incredibly popular and the queue is usually well over an hour - fast-pass tickets are often all allocated by about 11am!

Our favourite rides are Big Thunder Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean and Phantom Manor in Disneyland, and the Studio Tram Tours in Disney Stuidos (if you have small children that jump easily, and decide to take them on the Studio Tram Tours, sit them between you so they are not on the outside of the trams - they will get wet, and maybe a little worried by the flames (I'm saying no more - it would spoil your trip!).  The Stunt Show in the Studios is good too - good excuse for a sit down!

Food-wise, you can spend whatever you choose to spend!  There are LOADS of places to get food and drink (and loads of drinking fountains too - for water, take a small bottle each and refill them as necessary at the fountains for free!).  Many of the food outlets are 'fast food' style, but it's not overly expensive, and you are on holiday!  If you want to splash out a bit, book a meal with the characters - the kids will love having Mickey and his friends actually come to their table!  (so will you - admit it!!).

If you are staying in a Disney hotel, you can swipe a credit card at your hotel reception and get a 'payment card' for the park - any pruchases can then be made with the card and charged back to the card you have swiped at the hotel - so you only pay one lot of charges for overseas use!!  Saves you having to carry loads of cash (take a bit into the park anyway - the small kiosks don't take payment cards) and/or your plastic into the park (hotels without room safes usually have safety deposit boxes are reception).

Above all - forget you are an adult and have a GREAT time - that really IS a 6 foot mouse, and you really are face-to-face with a dragon (under the castle - shhhh - you'll wake it up!!!).  It genuinely is a magical place - attention to detail is superb, paths are clean (even the horses wear 'nappies' - you'll see!), staff are helpful (although you sometimes have to find a second one to get an English-speaker - they all speak French plus at least one other language, but that is sometimes German or Italian!).

Can't you tell we LOVE Disneyland in our house - we call it 'The Happy Place'.

it also depends when you go in the year as queuing times are going to be a lot longer in the summer/school holidays(if you don't get fast track). Allow at least 3 whole days - also if its hot - 3 "whole" days maybe too much for the Adults! sorry big kids.

Apparently the staff were saying its better to come in April or September!

We stayed at the Davy Crockett Ranches - Which had a swimming pool - we never saw it that will tell you how busy our 3 days were! Anyone else stay there and see the `vacant`  teepee's all around just  for decoration !? I would have liked to stay in them instead of my `ranch`. Thought about coming back next year with camping gear and squatting! or should that be squaw ring?

Also don't leave it too late in the day if you are going to eat in the Disney village as the wait for these can also be major. We ended up on the first night heading back home to eat in the end as it was going to be just too late otherwise.

Don't know how old your kids are but recommend the character tea which you have to book in advance. Book in at least on your first day . You get to get the autographs of some of the characters you have not seen and lots of good photos. Baloo 'got' me unexpectedly - I ended up eating his fur with my tea! It seemed to be everybody's birthday at the tea so an advance birthday party celebration also recommended as Trudi felt left out when they came round with A Birthday Cake for everyone.

cant think of any other tips at the moment - its too hot

Completely non camping based, but we go every year in January! It's freezing cold, we have snow regularly, but we do like the Europeans and dress the kids in skisuits, layer up well and it's excellent! No queues at all really, lots of the rides let you just stay on instead of going round to re-queue, and there's no scrum for characters or anything. And most importantly its very cheap as you don't pay for kids at all. Last year we did a weekend at the Hotel Santa Fe and for 2 nights/ 3 days self drive including Eurotunnel, breakfasts, hotel and 3 day passes for all 5 of us it cost......£280!!!

This year we are going Monday to Friday, on the Eurostar and staying at the Sequoia Lodge for 4 nights/ 5 days with character breakfasts on 3 mornings in the park before it opens and its costing us, for 5 of us, £700. We're going to spend 2 half days and 2 full days in the parks and go to Paris itself for the other day.

The first time we went I was convinced I would hate every minute of it, but it is infectious and now we are hooked. It is worth it for the look onthe kids faces when they come face to face with one of their heroes......I'll post a piccy of my DD with Eeyore in a mo.......

Ohhhhh - I so want to go back!!  Little Scamp and I are going to London from 18 to 20 August, and I'm contemplating going to Paris for the day (I work for the railways and get discount on Eurostar).  We were supposed to be going on a special train trip on the Saturday (hauled by a Deltic loco!), but it's been postponed till 2nd January (so I'll have to cancel the booking as I will be camping!), so we will need a treat to cheer us up ... maybe I could cancel the London hotel booking and go to Disneyland for a couple of days instead .... (I think OH would sulk if we went without him though!!).

My children will be 9 when we go9 twins) and we will be taking the van. I must admit I was concerned that I would be a bit embarrassed by it all- seeing people dressed up as Disney characters!- but it does sound like a brillaint place.
Can you book the tickets for the lunch/tea at Disney itself?
Thanks
Nicki

Yes you can Nicki - call it at City Hall when you arrive (it's in the first 'city square' you walk into after you have passed through the ticket barriers, on your left if I remember correctly).  You should be able to book there - if not, they will be able to tell you where you can book.  We actually ended up having a character meal 'by accident' last time we visited - we went for our evening meal in Cafe Mickey in the Disney Village and it was character meal time - they offered us the choice of the character meal (it's a little bit more than when there's no characters around, but not much), or to come back later - no brainer there then!!!!!

I checked out prices for Little Scamp and I to go the Happy Place in August - at OH's suggestion (I think he must be ill!!), but it's too expensive  for us to just decide now we are going rather than plan it as our main holiday.  Never mind - one day, we will be back.

Have a great time.
