If you like Bacon for breakfast take Bacon you cant get it in France like we have it here. but fresh croissants are better for breakie with hot chocolate.
If you really want food from home vist a large supermarket and they usually have a section of food of the world. you can get your Pg tips and your walkers crisps and heinz baked beans.
The french eat mostly fresh food you dont really have an aisle of ready meals. I have found most food to be a similar price to here but somehow it tastes much nicer .
visit local markets they are usually really well priced anfd the produce is very fresh.

Don't worry! I'm not going to tell you off for copying! LOL!
Have a good holiday and remember you don't need those ciggies any more. Though they might think different! My hubby still smokes and it's a real bore if we're going somewhere and he has to hang about outside for 10 mins "'avin a faag" before we can go in. Specially if it's raining! BTW, the anger does go eventually
You get brilliant diluting syrup in French supermarkets in lots of flavours - strawberry, melon, lemon, blackcurrant. My kids like it so much we bring bottles back with us.
I haven't read all 5 pages so I'm sorry if I repeat anything someone else has said. We take very little, just tea bags and as I only drink about 2 cups a day we just take a small pack. We take a small amount of coffee too so that when we get there I can have a 'magic' coffee that night, with the brandy I've bought on the way. The only other thing I take is a tinned meal for the first night. Curry or stew or something from ASDA. After that we go to the supermarket and buy what we need, the kids love choosing new cereal etc as it's French it's different. We do take cheap packet batter mix as my kids love pancakes for breakfast, usually with French cheese or Chocolate spread. We also end up taking French food home as the kids like it better than English!! I would never take cheese as our holiday consists of eating French bread and cheese and drinking French wine. Just about the only thing we can't buy is cider, lovely for a hot sunny day, but in Brittany it's quite readily available, just not in every area. C'est la vie..........

I guess it's just a question of taste ... my kids find it disgusting!

The ones in tins? They're yummy. My very picky kid likes the grenadine (pomegranite!) for some reason. I don't think anyone likes the mint!

The Euro-name for Walkers crisps is Lays! Lets hope they don't change it in the UK like Snickers! They're the same crisps though. Some of the flavours might be different. Come to think of it... isn't there a bolognese flavour? How come we don't get that in the UK?

We took loads of tins with us and brought loads back!!!!!! The fresh meat in France is lovely we cooked steaks and they were very tender ,a nice salad picnic at lunch with crusty bread. superb cheese and my hubby couldn't pass a patiserie without buying a piece of flan!! also steak haiche<beefburgers> are a lot nicer than ours made with ground steak not minced rubbish.
The only thing that concerned me was on a menu in Royan GOATS TACKLE methinks something got lost in translation. Seriously though eat salad fresh fruit and fresh fish and you can't put weight on,just don't look in the patiserrie window
We had excellent meat on the BBQ a few weeks ago too. Also lovely fruit from the market and salads and baguettes with cheese and or ham............. mmmmm. I am feeling hungry already. French food is great, wish we were back there, Stu you are soooooooo lucky to live in the Loire!!
