Camping Card International. I am camping in France later this month, do I need a Camping Card International? I have never heard of them before until a friend mentioned them today
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
A lot of people will say they have camped in France without needing one. I have been going to France since 1987 and I have always found it accepted at campsites. Without it you might be asked to leave you passport. The CCI Card offers the site owners insurance if you do a bunk without paying. It will often secure a discount on site fees. The only problem is that they only seem to be conditionally available ie you have to be a member of the CC or CC&C or the AA. I have not yet seen an open source where you can buy one but I am sure someone will put me right on that!
AND .. .. .. some sites will give you a discount for having one. You have to be a member of one of the participating clubs, presumably because of the insurance cover. AA no longer do them but see Cycling club, they used to - and article here http://www.motorcaravanners.org.uk/touring.htm get one if you can, it does help.

But itīs all right now, I learned my lesson well.

AA no longer do thm BUT you can get it through the Caravan Club IF you are a member of the AA , it costs Ģ4.50 and you just need to quote them your AA membership no. when you phone them, thats what i did earlier in the month.
I've never had a problem camping abroad without a CCI although I am a member of the CC and could apply for one.
I've been asked to leave my passport at reception a couple of times. Personally that doesn't bother me, but if it would worry you then I would recommend applying for one.
Agree with above, they are not necessary, but if you would like a discount of 10% at a great majority of continental campsites, as well as the card being accepted as ID at ( dare I say it ?) all campsites. Would not be without mine!!
