Has anyone visited this site?   Planning my hols for next year to help me get over the getting home blues.  It is within walking distance of Saumur which appeals as it is nice to be able to go out without the car at nice I thought.  Any comments gratefully received as I couldn't find anything on the seach.

We have stayed there a few times, anything from overnight to 9 days.

The site is well run, the staff are helpful, and English speaking if you are not confident in French, though the booking in procedure can be painful after a long drive. The last thing you need after half a day on the road is "how did you hear about our site?" -especially when you have just handed over a camping cheque-DOH!!

Easy walking and cycling from the site. Some riverside pitches with views of the chateau (floodlit at night, and also within walking distance) Good selection of supermarkets, some cyclable. Nice town with a good selection of places to eat.

Facilities have been well kept when we have been there, but we haven't been there in high summer recently. Free hot water. The washing machines are popular. The pool is sometimes restricted hours as it is also used for school swimming lessons in term time.

In June 2006, they were doing some building work, not sure what, by the main toilet/shower block. Anyone know what it is, or if they have finished?

One of our favourite campsites!!! Very quiet, no bar or club.A few low key entertainments ,ie, wine tasting. An easy drive to Futeuroscope(?) We enjoyed a visit to the Cadre Noir( Army riding school) A good mix of nationalities when ever we have been there!.This campsite is in the Select Sites brochure, can work out cheaper to book with them, as they get good deals with the ferrie companies.

hi lizzie,
we went last year, our review(search for saumur) is here
and we are going again in a week, mobile home though - not camping this time cause rest of family coming with us.
their website is now under "flowercampings" but the website is still only in french - they were bought by a larger company last year and haven't finished doing the website yet.
the building work should be the new pool complex - we'll find out soon if it is finished.

Hi,

I have this on my list for Sept. Sounds good so we may go there instead of Angers.

We like sites within walking distance of a town/village.

It is about 55 miles from Saumur to Futuroscope, if anyone wanted to go there, there is a very nice site called Le Futuriste at St. Georges, Poitiers.

Is this the municipal site on the island at Saumur ... we had a look at this one a few weeks ago and thought it looked lovely ..on the banks of the Lloire ..but not sure of its name.

We stayed at Le Chant Loiseau whihc is 20 minutes drive from Saumur and can thoroughly recommend it ..lovely pocket sized site ..you feel as though you are in the middle of the courtryside .... but very central for the Lloire and all its attractions.  Would highly recommend this site ( also for bird watchers and nature lovers as well!)

but book early to avoid disapoitnment.

Le Chant d'Oiseau is a small family run campsite in the heart of the Loire Valley, known as the 'Garden of France'. Very much like the Caravan Club CL type site in the UK, we have 8 pitches, all with ...more
