Going to http://www.camping-des-marais.com - From Calais>Rouen>Dreux> Orleans way and looking for a hypermarket enroute that anyone can recommend, preferably 2-3yrs out of calais so I stop, get some food for me and the kids, fill the car up with fuel and get some shopping. Then I can wizz to the site all ready to go.
Anyone who has done the route - can they recommend anywhere

We like the Leclerc supermarkets. If you can read a bit of French you can pick one on your route: http://www.e-leclerc.com/c2k/portail/storelocator/home.asp
Click on the map twice to zoom in, then hover above the blue dots to see what town it's in. When you've found a likely town click on "Aller sue ce site magasin". This is the page you get for Dreux. Top left under the banner you get today's opening times and the address. Click on the opening times or "plan d'access" (location) for a page with the general opening times and a map.
Usually the ones with longer hours are the bigger ones.
Just one thing though. If you're planning on using it as a watering stop... French supermarket loos often leave a lot to be desired compared to Tesco & Sainsburys. If there's a cafe they'll probably be decent but smaller branches often just have a squat loo round the back. I'd stop at one of the bigger motorway services for the loo, personally, as they're usually clean and modern.

hi
if you go on mappy and search for somewhere you thimk is the right distance from the port - abbeville?? you can ask mappy to show you all the supermarkets in that area.
leclerc is very good - they normally have the cheapest fuel as well.
You don't say what your outfit is, but if you are towing a caravan, or driving a motorhome, you may also need to check for barriers restricting entrance to the carpark. Some supermarkets have these, others don't - and sorry, other than asking someone who has been there, I don't know how you would find out! If you have only a car, or a car and low trailer, this won't be a problem.
You will find signs pointing to the supermarkets around all the exits to built up areas of the autoroute and on the ring roads of all the towns and cities. the sign tells you which supermarket or hypermarket such as Champion, Leclerc, Intermarche etc, etc and gives directions. Just choose a town or city on your route at the distance you want and there will be a rash of signs decorating the roads. You cant miss 'em.
