Hi, I've just joined this! Are we crazy as a middleaged couple to think about travelling in caravan to Benidorm around 10th December? My partner wants to spend Xmas there. I intend flying back once I'd navigated him there and then fly back around 3rd January to help him home! We've done lots of European travel but not in Winter months.Has anyone tried it and want to put us off due to the weather/road conditions? Also ,if we do this we would need to compile a list of sites in France that are open all year round .
If anyone wants any recommendations on nice places to visit in France try me,

Its a great idea to seek out the winter sun and we have done it in the past, trouble is so do many more from all over europe, and I would hazard a guess that to find a pitch in or very close to Benidorm around Xmas may be impossible. You may well find sites a little way out, and drive in, or if they are on the bus route go in that way, they only cost 1 euro for any distance, also remember that it can be quite mild and sunny during the day, but very cold at night, so your unit will need to be well insulated with a good heating system. If you could find a site offering a booking system that may take some of the uncertanty away. Good Luck. kiev
Thanks Kiev and Voyageur. We are much encouraged now!
We know a couple who have a tourer permanently pitched at a site near Benidorm so the idea was to go there and at least meet a friendly face! My partner Alan gets the Winter Blues and says he is determined to spend Christmas abroad this year hence this idea but I don't want to be away from my family for Christmas -thats why I intend leaving him in safe hands and flying back .

We had lots of likeminded people stay here with us through the winter last year, some of whom are calling off to see us again this year. Lots of people travel to Spain/Portugal & the South of France to find the winter sun. Sometimes they needn't go much further than here to be honest!
If you need a place to stop off to catch your breath, let us know.
What a fab thing to do, I wish we had the time to travel down.We always fly to Benidorm.
We have stayed in Benidorm at Christmas for the last 4 years. It is fab, much more festive than here. Everywhere is open. It`s great walking along without a coat on stoping off for coffee and brandys. You couldn`t do that at Christmas in the uk.
