we are looking for somewhere to store and use a caravan, preferably undercover, not too far from the western ferry ports in France(eg Loire). We prefer smallish sites which are not solely occupied by Brits and Dutch! Our mode of travel is motorcycle so the caravan would stay onsite and also may be used by family so no "adults only" sites please.

There's also Le Serpolin, English owners who'll do anything for you. They have a young family too, so they're trying to make the place more family oriented.Possibly a bit closer to the ports for you too.
yes, it is. It's just been taken over by a young English couple with two lovely kids. They'll be turning it round into a very nice site for families. I'm sure they'll be on here sometime soon to introduce themselves!
What has anyone else found whilst storing a caravan in France? Charges & whats on offer vary a lot.
we've found so far 150 euros a year. - under cover, locked premises, and secured by a huge metal farm gate. No stored caravans can be seen at all. Caravan will be washed, tyres pumped if necessary.
Is this good value?

Yes it is! You wouldn't want to spend your holidays looking at row upon row of stored 'vans would you? €150 is very reasonable. Most start at around €250 including a wash or two per year.
cap nemo-yes very good value-but is it also a campsite? The idea of fields full of stored vans is definitely off putting, that's why I have reconsidered from my first choice, also the increased cost.
This price does seem like good value. What's the catch? As someone who is experienced with this, before making your choice I would be asking myself is the site registered with French authorities as a storgage facility?, Do they have the permits in place? What does their insurance cover you for, or is it up to you to fully insure your van for storage abroad whilst it's on their premises? etc etc
Numbers of other satisfied storage clients is usually a good indication... what is £100 difference in annual quotations when all the above mentioned boxes are ticked and you have your peace of mind if the worst happens!

appreciate the comments. For driving abroad towwing caravan the car insurance covers it but for storage abroad a separate insurance needs to be taken out I understand. So whatever is charged for storage the insurance costs remain the same?
Aren't permits the site owners responsibility & nothing to do with the caravan owner? Or perhaps it is the site owners resposibility to insure all stored caravans against fire theft etc.- in which case an extra £100 would be cheap.
Covered storage surely reduces the risks of vandalism, theft etc.
