Hi all, just curious - was anyone else a bit disappointed with the Mousquetiers de Richelieu? We'd been really looking forward to seeing it, and had bought ourselves 2 days in the Grand Parc this year largely so we could see this and all the other shows without being too rushed, but we were all (me, Himself, 12 year old daughter and 9 year old son), a tad disappointed in it.
We thought there'd be more sword-fighting and stuff, but there was a lot of talk. Too much. And lots of filmed scenes. (Mind - the final dance was pretty spectacular). We really enjoyed all the other shows tho' (for the 4th time!!!) but I don't think I'd be bothered about going to that one again. In fact I even told a lady who'd never been, that if they could only manage one day and couldn't fit everything in, to miss that one.
Just wondered what anyone else thought.

Must admit that we were pretty disappointed with it too. We expected a pretty raucous swashbuckling show, but no! It was that dark in the theatre that we actually fell asleep! Still good, but not as good as we thought it should be.
we were a bit disappointed too. we went back especially to see that show and it was rubbish - well maybe not rubbish, but not very musketeerish. is that a word??? when they all jumped out of the lightshade things we thought it was starting, but that was it!!!
must admit i do think it is one of the best day's out tho, and fantastic value for money.
We saw 4 of the 5 big shows and the Mousquetiers de Richelieu was definitely the least effective. Wish we had gone to the Bataille du Donjon. The auditorium was spectacular but it was as though they had not quite worked out yet what to do with the space and only the last ten minutes were enjoyable (fantastic water dance with horses etc). The story of 'Le Bouton d'Or' was a bit weak from what my French was able to pick up. I reckon when we return in a couple of years it will have changed and improved - the other show have had quite a while to get them just right. A brilliant day out, but how did they train the anilams to do all that stuff. Especially like the little black pigs in the Vikings.
By the way - did anyone see the man selling soap in the XVIII century village? He was wearing clogs and looked just like Benny Hill as the toy-seller in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. I kept thinking he was going to call in the kids to an underground hiding place - 'Cheeldren, Cheeldren! Qvick! Over here! You must hide! Qvickly!"

oooooooh yes you really shouldn't have missed that one. i can't decide between that and the vikings for my favourite - although maybe the fit horse men swing it towards bataille du donjon!

I had the misfortune to be whacked on the head by a passing falcon in the falconry show. To add insult to injury, its handler walked down and perched the thing on my head (presumably to show how harmless it was). I was wearing a baseball cap at the time and it didn’t hurt anything but my pride! Fantastic show though.
I too thought Mousquetiers de Richelieu was a load of tosh. I had a translator radio thingy and still didn't know what was going on.
Mousequetiers de Richelieu was the first show that we saw for the day and at the time we thought it was pretty good, but then we saw the Vikings and I think that would have to be my favourite...it was just fantastic even though it was pouring with rain and we sat huddled under our Puy de Fou poncho,s! LOL ....the Gladiators were fantastic as well and we loved the falcon show.....someone sitting near me had a very large falcon land on her head and then had her shoe well pecked by a large buzzard!
We had a fantastic time there and I,m sure we,ll talk about it for many years to come
