Hi Skatty
You have just described 75% of the sites in France. Most of them do ready erected tents, most of them have pools and most of them have a bar/restaurant and the dreaded animations most nights. Finding a small quiet site is harder to find than the kind you are looking for to suit your Mam.
Carol
I really do not agree with this statement.
On the coast maybe, but very few inland sites are like this and there are thousands in France.
I really struggle each year to find a site that is small, has no pool, has no restaurant or bar or organised entertainment and my experiences of several years of researching sites either on the web or using the Alan Rogers has led me to believe that the majority of French sites offer these facilities. My ideal sites are the small municipal sites of which there are thousands. but the majority of privately owned sites, whether on the coast or inland, fit the above description.

Hi Skatty,
We have done the holiday you have described for many years now and we love it, are already booked for next year and if you get ya skates on you will get all the early booking offers.
I would advise that you send for the brochures from the big companies and then have a good look through them. You will find there are differing sites to suit differing needs.
Canvas
Eurocamp
Keycamp
Camping Life
Al Fresco
Siblu
Canvas & Camping life are owned by the same company as of this year, I would recommend Canvas above camping life.
Keycamp & Eurocamp are owned by the same company, I have used both, would recommend Keycamp for better tents (roomier) and more reasonable cost.
Al fresco, owned by Thomson, I think they are quite expensive and haven't styaed with them but I have heard their accomodation is top-notch!
Siblu, is the new name for Haven Europe, haven't used them.
Hope that helps a bit,
------------- Belinda

Hey Skatty
I have THE answer, but keep it to yourself! We have been for the last two years to a wonderful Dutch run site near Bergerac. Nice family owned and run site in a valley, perfect pool (not too big, but big enough for a swim) its own lake with beach area, the most beautiful bar that is not too loud, but does a good pizza and entertainments, well a little but mainly run for the kids, after all do we really go away to see a dreadful Frech cover band murdering songs? All in all, THE most perfect wonderful place, I dream about it in the darkest days of Winter........Oh damn, I have to tell you the website now don't I??? www.lestaubiere.fr This year our extended family went, we camped in our tent, two sets of parents stayed in their static caravans, but the also do a bugalow tent........like I say, PERFECT!!!
