Hi!

All the talk seems to be about France but I am thinking of trying Jersey or Guernsey next year.  Has anyone any recent experience of the campsites there.  the reviews are all quite old!

We would be taking children age 2 and 5 so would like some facilities but don't want anything too busy.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

We've started camping in May of this year and will hopefully be going further next year - probably France.  However, we are also considering the Channel Islands.  We live in Weymouth so have access to the Condor service.  However, the cheapest crossing we can get is around the £500 mark which seems extortionate!  Has anyone discovered a cheaper way of getting to the islands as we'd love to go there but not at that price.  Perhaps there are some packages out there.

By the way, we're hooked!  It's only taken my OH about 20 years to persuade me to go camping rather than a nice hotel and I wish I'd agreed years ago!  The kids have a great time and we can totally relax - my OH even does the washing up!!!!!

Hi!

I looked into prices this year and found that the sites that offered a link to booking the ferry got the ferry at package prices - eg Fauxquets in Guernsey, early July the fast ferry from Poole was around £260 including car but we left it too late to get the dates we needed.  Also Beuvelande in Jersey comes up on the Condor Holidays website with inclusive prices, which look ok.

I keep looking at these sites, but would like some more feedback on where to go before I decide.  I have met someone who went to Rose Farm in Jersey but left after a couple of days - far too rowdy and big he thought.

Come on, someone out there must be able to help us!!!

I was thinking about Jersey this time last year but decided that it was too expensive to get there and then there only seems to be 2 campsites to choose from once you're there, neither of which took my fancy!

I have never been to Jersey but have been to Geurnsey 4 times nowand it is a fantastic place for kids we have two girls 5 and 7.

We camped at Fauxguets and really enjoyed it do not book your ferry direct with Condor as it is about £200 more expensive than booing through an agent but it is still expensive but it is worth it for the beaches and the peace and space.

Hi Ratman,

Did you see the hire tents at Fauxquets. We wondered if it was worth hiring one of these instead of carting all our stuff - and I like the idea of having a fridge etc.

That is definately the site I keep being drawn to so I am pleased to have some response from someone who has stayed there!
