We've just had three weeks in France at Soleil Plage in the Dordogne and L'Etang de la Brech in the Loire. We were very happy with both these sites. The pitches were good, especially the one at L'Etang which was huge , the facilities were clean and there was enough to keep our 7 and 9 year old boys occupied. We are thinking about going to La Garangeoire next year and would be interested to hear from anyone who has already been there what you think of it and would you recommend it.

I have just come back from there this August, very large pitches, clean facilities, friendly staff and loads of activities for the kids.Mostly British people camping in August and we made some good friends. I would recommend this site but you need to book really early, as it soon gets full with it being so popular.

Dave

On a previous thread this was described as sprawling & noisy. Ive heard far more good reports about La Garangeoire than bad but i wondered what your tyake on noise was having just got back??

Im looking to get on this site next year

 Simon,

There was a bar on site but we never heard any noise from it and in the night the only noise we heard we were people talking never heard any music from radios. The site usually settled down about 11pm the latest 12pm, but I suppose it,s the luck of the draw you could have bad neighbours. The site is quite large but you are never far from any facilities, I would say it,s a plus as you have large pitches and you are not cramped.

I stayed here, static rental before I got my tent ........ Thought it was absolutely lovely and very quiet, but I was there late in the season after schools had gone back, so may not have been typical.

We went in August last year. Weather was not brilliant , probably rained 2 days out of 12 we were there but warmed up in the afternoon. The site is ideal for children. Not too big at all and plenty to do. There are footy pitches , kids clubs ,a reasonable swimming pool, lake to canoe in, tennis courts etc. Didn't have any problem with noise but admittedly we always take ear plugs anyway.

We have booked already for next year as it does get booked up quickly. That tells you a lot I think
