I was in Sol a Go Go during the World Cup in June - and yes it really is on the beach. Go through the gate straight into the dunes. I spent many evenings walking on the beach with the family watching the sun go down
Loved the site - the bar is small but nice as is the pool. The pitches themselves are a bit spartan and you can see all the drainpipes and irrigation system. It is quite a dusty site and I found the pitches small - BUT I would go there again.
If you want a nice restaurant turn right out of the site and go into the first restuarant on the left - can't remember the name but went about 5 times in 2 weeks.
St Jean de Monts is only a 10 minute drive up the road and there is a good choice of restuarants there - St Giles to the south is also well worth a visit.
Take a trip to Lac du Jaunay - hire an electric boat for a couple hours - again a good day out.
For a day trip make sure to go to Ile De Normutier and go across the tidal road just after the tide has gone out - a VERY eery experience with water all around you when in the car.
