Hi

Just sorting out our hols for next year. Has anyone been to this Castels site in the Dordogne? In particular what are the pitches like?

Hello

I cant tell you about the pitches on this campsite sorry as ive not been, although it looks excellent. I can recommend Castles sites they are very good. We have been to this area of the Dordogne twice & stayed at La Palombiere campsite very close to Sarlat which I would also recommend although it is possibly a much smaller site but very good for small children. The area is lovely & canoeing on the Dordogne is a must as is a visit to the town of Sarlat and many other lovely viallages such as Domme.

Thanks Ann.  We are also looking at La Palombiere.  What are the pitches like? From their web site the pitches look quite shady

Hi there, We were on this site last year, and the pitches are of a good size, the site is the normal high standard you would expect from castels, but, and there's always a but, the site is very high up in the forest, and you are a least 6-7 miles from anywhere, I would not go back to this site but only because of it's location, that's just my opinion, if you don't mind being that far from anywhere then fine I would recommend it, for example people with motor home's who would like to cycle into town or walk were snookered because it was so far and so steep, but if you don't mind the location then the site is fine.

Stu
