 My wife and I, plus our 15 yr old Jack Russell did France & Spain last winter for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We may go to Morocco in Feb and wondered if anyone was thinking of doing the same,. Safety in numbers etc. If so pse reply and see what we can do. We live in Plymouth but are off to Germany for Xmas before belting through France to the Winter Sun.

it's been moved from where it was in Help, advice etc. Makes my post look daft now, I agree, but that's where it came from.

There's a company specialising in Morocco - they do 'chaperoned' tours - initially for motorhomes, but now also for caravans.  It's something like deserttours or deserttrek - google it and see what you can find.  I think there was also a thread on here a few months ago with someone describing his tour - it sounded fantastic but it does book up well in advance.

We looked at desert tours but thought it was very expensive around £1200 for a 3 week caravan tour.This included site fees and ferry I think, but as they were fully booked for most of 2007 that was that. Spoke to the organiser who was very helpful and gave me some tips.

Still fancy going but that would have to be in Feb. or possibly late Jan. Insurance may be a problem, so I will look into it again.

Yes. It's www.desertdetours.com  We are going again with them in September after doing a Moroccan tour with them earlier this year.

We had one vehicle breakdown on the earlier tour and it made me realise how much trouble we would have been in if going solo. DD have a HUGE support vehicle and staff, as well as workshops in both Spain and Morocco. It was a fantastic tour.

Cost was only £645 per person, but when you consider cost of ferry, campsites, entre fees some food etc etc etc we soon worked out that it would have cost more than that solo. And you do not have to return at end of tour. They provide an open return ferry ticket and ongoing support, plus as they run their tours every month you can re-join [as we did, at no extra cost] later.

Nothing to do with DD, just credit where credit is due. Top company, brilliant pre-tour support/info and for what it is cheap [I think]. Like I said, fantastic tour and experience.

Yes, ferry cost can be as much as £400+ return. That was one of the reasons we joined an "all-inclusive" tour. On the tour we did there was one dog......ask desertdetours. As well as their own campsite for client use in Spain they have a "Sofa n Walks" home style kennels.............Like I said earlier, a great service!
