Then Vallon is an excellent site - lovely 'state of the art' washblock, with facilities for small children. Pool is good (not too big, by today's standards). The site's level and kids can cycle safely around. Good sized pitches, separated from each other. They can be reserved by pitch numbers, and the ones on the right as you look at the site map (backing on to the lawned games area) are HUGE. Good restaurant, take-away and shop on site - and very 'secure' (night patrols, etc). There's a special range of activities put on for the kids, by the site, and by the tour operators there, and they seem to have a good time - free bouncy castles, 'silly-bikes', etc. They also organise fantastic 'themed' shows put on by the kids (they're taught magic tricks, etc - fantastic). There's shopping in Vallon, which is a walk (may be too far for the little one) - but there's free parking in the middle of town. The market in Vallon is worth a visit - lots of lovely shops. There are some good restaurants, offering good value meals - pizzas are good at the Pointe D'Interrogation (the old gaol) - or even La Rocaille (rock-bottom prices, cheap and cheerful).
Went there for years when my boys were smaller - and they're talking about wanting to go back this year to canoe the Ardeche again (now 20 and 26!!!!). Last there about three years ago with the (then) 17 year old and his friend!
There's access to the river - the banks are steep - so watch out for the little one at the riverside end of the site - however, the riverside pitches are also lovely. The river is warmish for swimming - but there isn't really a 'beach' until you get further down by the Pont d'Arc - definitely worth a visit. Lots of other things to do and see in the area.
