Not doom and gloom experts, just people who are practical and offering advice maybe!  It is a very long drive with a small child and as Steve indicated price was a factor several of us have just pointed out that flying needn't be the expensive option!

Not doom and gloom ? Wow !

Worst nightmare. Crime. Prostiitutes. Concrete jungle etc.

You make it sound like Taunton.

We flew from Luton to Barcelona by Easyjet a few years ago, took a small tent on the plane, hired a car and it worked out pretty cheap. The sooner you book, the cheaper it will be.

Nah, more like Yeovil!!  Needless to say my friend did not buy a house over there, it was truly awful and in fact one evening two ladies collared us on the way back to our villa to ask if we had been around during the early evening as they had been broken into.  They attach a rope to the grills and just pull them off with the car, in and out in minutes.  They took everything from these ladies, including the dirty washing!

A lady was accosted as she got out of her taxi and had £750 stolen from her (stupid for carrying that amount anyhow).  There are prostitutes hanging around the main coast road and the towns quite blatantly.  The housing complexes have now employed guards at the gates and the permanent residents where another friend has a house make a sport out of hunting the robbers down!

My brother also lives in the Alicante region, and he has never found any problems living there. Like any other place yes it does have crime, but name me one big town in the UK that doesnt suffer from crime and they dont get binge drinkers over there.

Well...  I've just booked 3 flights for a couple of weekends time to go and check out the concrete jungle!  All for £105 which is pretty good.

Might still go for a mammoth adventure there in the summer, or I might try somewhere a little closer to home first (I fancy France>Belgium>Germany>Home)

Hi Welshwyn. Like you say, there are no binge drinkers in Spain.....Apart from the Brits on holiday, they are an embarrasment to the decent people that live here. Ed.

Crikey!  I know the UK has binge drinkers and crime etc I was just alerting Steve to the potential issues he may encounter in the area, with a small child in tow also a consideration!!!

I won't bother next time!!!!
