i know the area around les sables has a good network of cycle tracks. we did some a couple of years ago.

in our experience most french sites are quiet after about 11.30 though i guess it depends what time of year you are going. we`ve not done peak time as yet..until this summer coming so cant really comment on that.

We stayed at Serignan Plage last year and thought it was a good site, but very large. I have some pictures on my website. There are more static pitches than touring. It has a really excellent swimming complex. The only problem we found was that there were no easy places to walk anywhere as it is a bit remote. With bikes it would be easier. However there are some interesting excursions if you don't mind taking the car.

Thankyou for the information. Has anyone stayed on Les Sables at Portenages Plage? ( I don't think I have spelt that correctly) It is not in the Alan Rogers guide which we usually use.

Do you mean Les Sablons at Portiragnes?

If you do, it's a great place for teenagers, with bar etc,good swimming pools & right on the beach. Site shops are good, the boulangerie in particular. It is quiet depending on where your pitch is; the further away from the bar you are the quieter it is. We cycle arround the site all the time (it is big!), & the surrounding area is good for bikes, especially the tow path by the canal du midi. We are back in July/Aug for the 7th year so I'm biased but it's a great relaxing place for a holiday!

Yes this is the site I'm looking at but I was a little concerned that it is not mentioned in the Alan Rogers guide, while the site at Serignan Plage is. Is there alot for teenagers to do as I have a 16 and 17 year old who can't stand being bored or is it too big a site for them to get to know others? Thanks for your help.

The Alan Rogers guides are very good and useful guides but they are by no means the definitive guide to campsites, if indeed one exists! Have you seen a copy of the Caravan Club European Guide Vol 1. All the reports in this guide are by members.
