Hi all

Yes has anyone been camping to Duinrell in Holland?  If so can you please give me your review and handy hints of what its like there.  We're thinking of as close to the amusement/fair ground park place.  Hopefully someone has been and know where I'm on about (yes I'm a woman and useless at describing places where I've never been to).

We stopped here for a long weekend last summer, on our way back from Austria. We have 2 girls (13 & 10) and he hardly saw then the whole time as they loved the fun park & water park which is practically on-site.

People staying at the site get free passes.

One criticism was it was a bit cramped, so watch-out of you have a large unit and awning.

Hi Jo , yes Iv'e been to Duinrell but not to camp there, to be honest I didn't like the look of the actual campsite and think you would be better finding a site to actually camp on and then travel to the theme park to visit, the theme park is very good for young children up to about ten or so but not much for older kids apart from the water park/ swimming pool which is absolutely fabulous, which you can visit without actualy paying for the whole theme park bit. If you go" all in" as I remember it is quite expensive but it is a few years since we were there, but nothing ever gets cheaper. There are lots of camp sites in the area so you should be able I think to get a better deal.

This is of course just my honest opinion there may well be others who disagree, whatever you decide I am sure you will have a wonderfull time, Holland is great.

Hi all

The only reason why I'm asking is that our 11/12 year old is going with his footy team.  I must admit I do trust him to a point as he is use to camping with scouts and going places with school and then been a camper with me and family and what not, so just wanting to put my mind at rest, coz afterall I'm use to this country and not abroad with him on his own.....so please if I'm been sensitive and protective tell me to bugg**r off.

Hi Jo,  If thats the case stop worrying he will be ok, there will obviously be someone responsible in charge, and Duinrell is a great place to be for kids, definitely not a den of inniquity, so yeh bugg**r off.

I went there for the day a few years ago but did not camp and thinking about going again soon

It is worth looking at it on Google Earth. There is a fantastic picture of it there - very sharp, and it gives you a very good idea of what it is like

We stayed at Duinrell last Easter for 10 days. There were a number of youth football teams there then.

Its a really good campsite - toilets are excellent.

Our son enjoyed the themepark and the indoor swimming pool and slides.

The restaurant, bars and shops were also really good.

We're booked with keycamp for 2 weeks in July, cant wait, it looks really good.

We stayed there a couple of years ago in a mobile home.  The children loved the amusement park.  I thought the pool was a bit grubby, but they loved it.  The area for tourers was very cramped.  It is important to know that they do not accept credit cards at the shops or restaurants on the site, so you need to take plenty of cash.  It is a nice walk into the village nearby and there were a few places to eat. If possible you should take bikes as there are (as in most of Holland) lots of cycle paths nearby.  There is a beach about 5-10 mins drive away that is nice.  We got the Hull to Rotterdam ferry which was a lovley crossing and not having that long drive when we got back was great.

Very much my own personal view but I much prefer the lovely peaceful French campsites which often have fabulous pool complexes. 

we went a few years ago  and are going again 1st april.cant fault it. but we did not take our own van.it may be true about the pitches being small ,we spent some time with a belgian family who bought thier own caravan but the site wasnt full and there was plenty of room.if you go in july or august i thi nk you would find the pitches cramped.

my 2 boys love the theme park and the water park too.they also hire out some really wierd go carts (for older kids)which my 2  were on all the time.

they loved it.my eldest son has talked us into going back this year.
