We're planning our first ever camping trip to France this year and are overwhelmed with the number of sites. Can anyone recommend a site that is near a beach, has a nice pool and is suitable for a 5 & 7 year old, plus several grown ups!!
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
messanges in south west france is very nice, lovely beech and good facilities but very lively. We will be going for our third visit this year and our boys are 10 and 8, they love it.
If thats a bit far then think about the vendee. Not my favourite area of france but has good beeches and plenty of campsites. and not as far as the south.
This is the first site we stayed at as a family some years ago - great pool, a really nice beach just a short walk away, plenty to see and do : Pont Aven, Concarneau, boat rides, lighthouses etc. We went in early June and the weather was somewhat "British" . Used by a few tour operators - we had a keycamp tent.
Depends how far you want to drive and which ferry port you arrive at. I would also recommend La rive although it looks a long drive if you do the overnight ferry from Portsmouth on Sat evening and arrive in St Malo Sun am you can be at the site by about 5pm, the roads are much quieter in France on a Sunday, we did the journey last year and although we were the last people off the boat we arrived at 5pm 2 stops and towing. If you want a smaller campsite in that area Les Ecuriels is smaller but just a couple of minutes to the lake beach lovely shallow warm water and the beach at Biscarosse is about 10-15 mins away.
lovely site, great pools, beach is great and pretty quiet you walk through a small wooded area to get to it. It is in Brittany about 1- 1.5 hours from roscoff. Nice play area with a boat.
