Hi

I am new to the site but looking for a solution to a problem.  We have spent several years camping on the West coast of France but looking to venture further afield this year.  Any recommendations for a site in the South of France (Languedoc-Roussilon), preferably coastal?  Looking for a small to medium size site with pool and slide(s) that can offer us some entertainment but one which will not keep us awake all night with a thumping disco.  I have had a site called camping les Champs Blancs mentioned to us already however I feel that it may be too big.  Willing to look at inland sites up to 15kms from the coast, price not really an issue.  Last year we stopped at Le Pins Parasol near Chapelle Hermier - close to Bretignolle on the Vendee, that style of site would be ideal.

Thanks

Whilst not quite in the area you are looking at have you considered the Dordogne ??  No sea beaches nearby but nice river ones.

We went to Le Pin Parasol as well last year so I think I know the type of site you are looking at.

This is where we are off to this year

Hello and welcome. "Les Sablons" at Portiragnes Plage should fit your needs. The site is right on the beach.

Champs Blanc is a big site - with entertainment at night - though not the late night, thumping sort.  There's a lovely restaurant.  The pitches are gravel, though, and some are not so good.  The pool complex is excellent, but the toilet facilities are just acceptable.  There are some pitches with private cabins, but these take up quite a bit of room.   Nearby at Grau d'Agde is Camping Neptune - alongside the canal leading to the sea and the beaches.  It's smallish, with a decent pool, and very pleasant.  Pitches here are large, and grassed - and the management very friendly.  You're within walking distance of the town of Agde, and of the beaches at Grau d'Agde.

Le Boucanet at Grau du Roi is very good indeed (see review on this site) and right alongside the beach.  It's not small, but not intimidating.  We've been both early and late season, and it's never noisy - but not sure about absolute height of season though.  There's a lovely pool, excellent value restaurant, smallish bar, and no noisy entertainment.  The village of Grau du Roi is within walking distance (longish walk) along the beach, and market day there is lovely.

Went to Le Soleil at Areles sur Mer last year - enjoyed it so much we are going back. Lovely area with direct beach access which is specially important as traffic in the area was the worst I have encountered in France. It was a big site with decent facilities and despite it being end of season the staff were still friendly.

We really like La Sirene (sorry can't find a UKCS entry) and sister site opposite called L'Hippocampe in Argeles Sur Mer. La Sirene is bigger and busier than L'Hippocampe but they are opposite each other on the road and you can use the facilities of both. We've always stayed on La Sirene and never been disturbed.

We've also hired direct at this site and their own accomodation is very good.

Good luck finding what you are after

BrummyGit,

If you like La Sirene and can't find a UKCS entry for it, have you thought about reviewing it yourself. It's really easy to do. First go here and list the site, then go here and send in a review. It sometimes takes them a while to post reviews, but it this time of year it shouldn't be a problem.

Liz
