Hi Catherine
I was already thinking of responding especially with David's recommendation. Here is my review of Camping Cavallino on the Jesolo Peninsula.

We found it an excellent, well-resourced site offering both a very warm and shallow Adriatic Sea and nearby Venice including the delights of the many different islands.
We did, incidentally, also, visit the nearby Union Lido campsite. We went there for the English language Church services on 2 Sundays but took the opportunity to look around. It is camping/Caravanning on a HUGE, and I mean HUGE scale. Full size supermarket, shopping precinct cinema, restaurants and even Church building. This plus an incredibly varied activity programme. The caravan pitches did, however, look a bit crowded. Across the main road it has a large sports complex and an excellent camping/caravan market/supermarket. This was one of the best camping/caravan stores we have seen on our European travels over more than a decade and it included many UK spare parts in its stock range - very handy.
There are numerous campsites along the Peninsula backing onto the same lovely beach as Cavallino - really you pays your money and takes your choice.
I would STRONGLY reiterate my warning about not trying to leave the Jesolo Peninsula on a Saturday morning. After relatively easy motoring along the JP for more than a week we thought this had been exagerated by other posters on this website.
We changed our minds after trying to drive a short distance to a garage one Saturday morning. The whole length of main road eastward off the peninsula was a traffic jam. It was difficult to even get back to our site as all the side roads became grid-locked too making it impossible to get onto the main road to drive the west along the Peninsula.
