I have just received my Tesco Deal Tokens (£240) which I intend to use on Eurotunnel. You have to phone to book so what I want to know is are the Tesco fares they quote over the phone likely to be the same or similar to those obtainable if you book online.

I ask this because the leaflet that came with the tokens says " you cannot book Tesco fares on the internet" . To me, they are either just stressing that you cannot book online using Deal Tokens OR they are saying that when you phone to book you get a different fare to the online one.

Has anyone using the Deal Tokens compared the fare quoted using the tokens with the fare quoted online?

When we booked our crossing last year, I had in front of me the on-line price if I had booked with Euro-Tunnel direct, When I phoned the Tesco booking line, their price was exactly the same. Hope this helps

I'm the same as LesleyHooper (above)

P&O Dover-Calais now accept Tesco Vouchers to pay for the crossing which is substantially cheaper than the chunnel. I only used £38 in vouchers which equates to £150 return.

Cheaper, yes. But much much slower and much more likely to induce seasickness!! We used the ferry last year but as we had enough tesco vouchers we plumped for the tunnel as the ferry crossing last year took 2.5 hours (by the time it actually left and then unloaded at the other end)

Have the Eurotunnel website in front of you when you ring up, with your choice of crossings. They are always the same as what they quote you when you ring, but if you go to the next page, you can then also pick your times of crossings, if that is important to you. Cost us £2 this time for a crossing in June with the motorhome, can't get much better than that!

Ina.

Thats what I like about this hobby of ours. Each to his/her own. I know its longer on the boat but after the 300miles+ journey from the We(s)t Country its just the job to get a leg stretch and a lungful of the smell of the next blokes vomit!!!

Happy crossings!
