I was wondering if anyone has any feedback on campsites in the Talloires area, on the eastern shore of Lake Annecy? We would really like a campsite right on the lakeshore, and something reasonably quiet, with as little road noise as possible and preferably without nightly entertainment!. We'll be travelling in August with 2 small kids aged 4 & 5 and a trailer tent. In particular I have been looking at the following (as I haven't found any others!)

  • Le Lanfonnet
  • Domaine de la Chapelle Ste Claude
  • Camping le Lac
  • Camping l'Horizon

Does anyone know what the beaches are like on this side of the lake comapred to the western shore?

I have also looked at a couple of campsites on the western side that look quite quiet - namely Camping La Ferme, Les Champs Fleuris, Camping le Familial, Camping le Cretoux. Does anyone have anything positive / negative to say about these?

Any advise and information gratefully received!

We loved Lac Annecy but found it really busy in June!    Our campsite was right on the lake but did have road noise Lac Bleu at Doussard.  Most of the  British seem to head for La Ravoire which is off the main road near the site we stayed in at the bottom end of the Lake.

Hi,

As far as I am aware, Lac Bleu is the only site actually on the lakeside. The only site I have used in the area is La Ravoir. The road on the east side is pretty narrow, very twisty in places and has plenty of hill climbs. As Marz says, there is quite a lot of road noise at Lac Bleu.

Sorry, forgot to add that a lot of the eastern side is privately owned. The houses have their gardens running down to the lakeside. Don't actually recall seeing any beach areas on that side.

Sorry but I don't think it is possible to have a lakeside campsite and no road noise around lake Annecy. It is a very very busy area whatever time of year you go and nearer the lake you get the more popular it is. Sorry if I sound negative i don't mean to be  the area is absolutley fantastic and there is so much to do you will be so tired on a night you won;t even hear the road!!

I went to Talloires for the day a couple of years ago when we were staying at a campsite about an hour away. No experience of the campsites you mention but it's a really lovely village. As I remember it we had to park up in the village, well away from the lakeside and walk down to the lake. There was a beach there with a big park for sunbathing, diving boards, jetties etc. It was very busy with picnic - ers but no road noise as you had to park away from the lake and the only traffic around were locals accessing the village.

Hi

Domaine de la Chapelle Ste Claude

We stayed here for a few days last August.  The surrounding area was lovely but it is a bit of a drive to Annency about 20 mins and at busy times a lot more.  The road around the lake can get very busy.

You can sit by the lake on this site as the site has a garden with a bar and eating area.

We had to book. The pitches were small.  We have a Monty 4 and it just fitted on and we had to park near the site entrance. They may have given us a small pitch as we said we were a two. There were some bigger pitches which some large family tents got but we got put on with the perminant vans/cabins.  The site has quite a few cabins and French statics with regulars who come for the weekend.

The toilets were okay but they did get busy.  It was August.

Hope this helps
