The minimum order is £500, they're no one we've ever heard of and they don't seem to be a Licensed Deposit Taker (a bank). Hmm... shall I go with them or stick with the trusty Post Office who everyone's heard of and who offer decent rates on amounts smaller than £500...

And besides, who would take that much with them in cash? and who uses travellers cheques in Europe these days?

Rob, I have to say, if that wasn't your 105th post I'd think you were spamming. Sorry to be rude an'all...

Liz

Me too, we just don't bother exchanging much money now - usually taking only what 'change' we brought back from the last holiday.  First town we pass though we use the cash machines to draw out a small amount of cash, often in the same supermarket as we fill up with petrol - and 'bob's your uncle'.  Most large purchases we put on credit or debit card, and pay off on our return - and use cash for small payments only.  We've found you can now (with chip and pin) use your debit card in almost all large french supermarkets, so really it's just like being at home.  We might spend more in commission this way, but just find it much more convenient.
