Can anyone familiar with Camping Cheques tell me how you go about paying for your site with CC's when you have already paid a cash deposit to the site.

I have just discovered that the site we are going to this summer accepts CC's from the 18th of August. This covers the 14 nights we will be staying there but I have already paid a 125 euro deposit. How do I pay the balance if I am using CC's?. Do I buy 14 and have my deposit refunded or do they convert the cheques to euros and only take the number required to pay the balance?

We always go away for the last two weeks of August into early September and looking at the CC website today I have discovered that a lot of French sites consider this low season and accept CC's for all or part of that period. Would it be worth my while buying the Gold Card and is the payment for the card a one off or is it only valid for 2 years like CC's.

Thanks

Carol

I don't think there is an established procedure for this, magically. Perhaps you could e-mail the site and explain the situation and maybe they will come up with a solution.

Many sites in the network offer free reservations for Gold Card holders, so it may be worth getting for that alone. I believe the Gold Card is valid for three years.

We've been very pleased with the sites we have stayed on using Camping Cheques, although, so far, we have only used them in May or June, rather than at the end of the season.

Thanks Chrissie7

I have emailed the site but not had a reply yet, probably because its the off season.  I guess each site does have its own way of dealing with payments but I just wondered what other peoples experiences were, although I know a lot of people who use CC's dont bother booking in advance during low season.

I would try e-mailing the Camping Cheque organization direct. Many of the campsites may not have anyone available at this time of the year who can read/speak English well enough to understand and reply to a fairly complicated question.

emailed the site this morning and just had a reply to say that we can pay for the pitch with 12 Camping Cheques, 6 =7, and our deposit will be used to pay for the fridge we have hired and for the extra charge on top of the CC's for a pitch with private bathroom. This means that we will save around 130 euros for the fortnight. I am very pleased I went onto the CC website this morning. I will definately consider the Gold Card before next years trip. Thanks for all your input.

Carol
