Hi all

just booked for two weeks at La Croix Du Vieux pont and was after some feedback and recommendations from people that had visited the site and local area around Soissons.

Taking our frame tent with regular UK three pin hookup and need to know whether this is OK for this site or do I need an adapter for the french supply. No mention of this on the site webpage.

Site looks excellent but just how busy is it in late July early August. Very i imagine but is it too busy?

What are the restaurants etc like on the site? Do the pools get overcrowded?

Travelling by Eurotunnel, any tips?

All comments welcome and appreciated

Cheers

Stuart

Hi,

we have stayed at this site several times. Cant help with the EHU question though as we stayed in a mobile home.

The site is one of the best we have stayed on and the facilities are excellent.

Loads to do and see in the local area :

Pierrefonds is about 20 mins away and is well worth a visit for its amazing chateau

Compeigne is about 20 mins away as well and has an excellent market (can't remember which day)

Laon is also worth a visit (lots of quaint little streets)

Clariere d'armistice (I've probably spelled that wrong!) is another "must see" being a museum/memorial to World War 1.

Reims is another good day out - it's much cleaner than most other French cities we have visited !

This campsite is also handy for visiting Paris and Eurodisney and lays on a bus to both locations  (think it costs around EUR20)

Enjoy !

Have stayed on this site many times.  We don't like big busy sites but we go there for the great fishing.   Even though it is huge and very very busy with all English visitors it still has plenty of open space and lovely grounds for walking round. We havn't stayed in the Summer though.  There is only a small casual restaurant n site which we havn't used but in the town there are excellent restaurants and bars and if you turn left out of the site the first village has a great small bar you can eat in which is great. Maybe you could email the site with your question about the hook up we have always found the staff very  pleasant and helpful

Hi We stayed there last july and loved it as for the elec hook up if your pitching on the same pitch as a caravan it has both eu and brittish sockets as far as i can remember.

We ate at both the carry out (burger&pizza) and the main resturant and couldn't find fault with them, there is a lovely resturant in the village about 1/4 of a mile to the right of the campsite called chef michellen the guy in there was great and had a brillant sense of humour food was great too. It is the local bar tabaconist corner shop and resturant in a room the size of a living room but make sure you book.

We visited most of the local towns and thought they were all worth a visit. We also drove to euro disney for the day and astrix park which are within 1- 1 1/2 hours drive.

The site its self was also great and our daughter loved it the staff where very helpful and the lifeguards very strict so stopped to much carry on around the pool, the on site shop is ok as is the bakers but there is a local supermarket within 10 mins walk and a brillant bakers in the near by town.

Sorry to rant on but i think you get the message that it was a good holiday and if you need any more info please feel free to ask

Gerry
