Hi

Can anyone offer some help about finding good sites in Northern Spain? We are booked to travel from Plymouth to Sanatander, but have now got cold feet because we are struggling to find any sites that would we think would suit the needs, especially of our two teenage daughters who are looking for a lively nightlife! Any help gratefully received, or perhaps you have some hints and tips about travelling southward towards the costas...

Thanks!

Haven't done the Santander area, but Cambrils Park, on the Costa Daurada should suit your teenage daughters if you decide to change areas.  It suited my teenage sons (and their friends)!!!  However, it's also great for younger families.  We met my sister, husband and their children (7 and 4) there, last May and they all had a fantastic time.  The site is about 500m from the beach, between Salou and Cambrils (bus service to both, for the nightlife!).  It's tucked away behind the hotels and shops on the front, and there are plenty of restaurants, etc., in the area.  Salou is lively, especially in high season, and there's Port Aventura just down the road.  It's a big site, but broken into different areas, so it doesn't feel too big.  There's plenty going on, on site, lovely shaded pitches with flowering shrubs all over the site, two pool complexes (one each end of the site), restaurant, bar, coffee shop, small supermarket, beach goods shops, cash machine, take-away, sports ++++, evening entertainment, but not until too late for the adults!  Lovely clean 'facilities' - even a serviced laundry on site (?? for emergency laundering of that must-have-it-on-tonight dress?!!!).  For parents, the mountains inland are lovely, Tarragona has some great walls and roman remains, there's the Ebro delta if you're into bird-watching, and lots, lots more besides.

Check out the website for more details.  If you do think it looks Ok, then the pitches  to the left of the pool nearest the gate are super (the site is 'zoned' but can't remember the 'zone' we were in) - palm trees, grassy, easy to access and quiet at night.  There's also on-site security, present 24 hours, and they are strict, but friendly and not at all intimidating.  Staff on site are all very friendly.

Hi

We're doing that sail at Easter, and have booked Playa Joyel (first time there for us), which I think might fit your bill. It's featured in the brochures of the likes of Eurocamp, so there's plenty of info on it. The site's 40km from Santander.

TT.

Santander itself is lovely. Wherever you end up staying have a great time.
