I have just bought a second hand Freedom Sunseeker 400 caravan and need an awning. Freedom want £540 but there seem to be lots available for less, although not sure if suitable for this size caravan.
Has anyone used or know of a cheaper awning that would be suitable.?
your problem will be the height. I think I saw one of the quickup porch awnings attached to a Freedom van - but from a quick drive past it was obvious that it had been adapted somehow

When we had one we had to have the proper awning. However what I would be tempted to do now is get one of those motorhome drive away awnings, they are freestanding but you can still attach to the awning rail on the van
They are much cheaper and really easy to put up

Friend of mine has just bought a Freedom Sunseeker and is also looking for the correct awning to fit it. They seem to be specially made to fit this type of van - therefore expensive!!
It seems they are made by NR Awnings so she is trying to contact them direct to see if it's any cheaper that way. The Freedom dealer at Stafford wants £570.
On my sunseeker the awning was actually longer than the caravan. There was an extra pole bit which nade it about 18" longer. Very useful extra space on such a little van, and made it look longer (more like a proper caravan) from the awning side.
What do you tow it with. I used a mini metro and slept 4 in the van & one in the awning. Brilliant little van. And why don't other manufacturers use fibreglass for the body. I reckon the freedom would be watertight for ever.
We just sold ours last week (with brand new awning)
Unfortunately if you want the awning to fit properly then you can only buy them from the dealer, and the price has gone up by about £100 since we brought ours at easter!!! They are not NR any more either, they are some french make?
Although the dealer also sells second hand awnings, so worth giving them a ring, they might have a good one at a reasonable price!?
As said above they are very expensive, due to the height, so you will need to think outside the box a little. The sugestion of a driveaway motorhome awning is a good one. When we had our Freedom we made modified an Outwell canopy to fit - see the photo in my gallery.
Gaz I think I've also seen one with the driveaway motorhome awning too -it looked pretty good too.
How's your new van been this first "summer" - am very jealous of it
We are loving the Geist, Been out 6 times in it and we've only had it since June, Off again for the bank holiday tomorrow to Shropshire. Fortunately OH has had 3 weekends off in a row this month and we have been away every one of them, Gotta make the use of it!
We are really pleased with it and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending one
Hope you are well. Are you off anywhere for the bank holiday?

Was supposed to be but my mate that also has a van has to work this weekend and I'm off abroad in a couploa weeks with the OH so just off up there this weekend and saving the pennies. My water heater has died too so need to get that one sorted before I can get away in van again. Have seen the next layout I like too - and bizarrely enough its the same layout as Sprite are bringing back in the 2010 Musketeer.
Where you off this weekend?
The sprites are great vans for the money, Our friends have a major 5 and it was virtually the same as the Swift Charisma we had before but cost £3k less. They absolutely love it.
We are off to Presthope Caravan Club site at Much Wenlock in Shropshire, As soon as I pick my boy up from nursery I'm meeting OH at the storage who hopefully she will have the car and van hitched up and on the road ready to go. Thats the theory! Although it should hopefully only take us just over an hour to get there.
I bet you are looking forward to a nice abroad holiday, Where you off too?

hi Jolly John-boy We have what you are looking for..an awning for your freedom sunseeker 400 caravan. yes they are very expensive. we have used it a couple of times but no longer have our sunseeker 400. if you are interested feel free to contact us
Mine came with the original Niewadow awning which was good but took so long to put up I sold it and got a lightweight one instead - not a perfect fit but much easier to erect on my own and served the purpose.
Hi sorry to hijack post but wondered if amliv you are still looking to sell your awning as I am looking for one for my freedom jetstream 2 berth caravan or if anyone can help me to find one cheaper than the ones Freedom have! Many thanks in advance.
