Can anyone tell me what the bracket that is welded to the centre of the alko axle and attached to the caravan floor is for. The bracket on my Coachman has a gap of 5mm between it and the caravan floor and the 13 mm bolt on the bracket is not full screwed up. There is no apparent attachment on the inside of the caravan.

after looking at some diagrams on google it appears that its for the hand brake cables

The vertical centre bracket should be bolted tight to the floor. The head of the bolt is under the vinyl floor covering, as are all of the other chassis fixing bolts.This should have been tightened on production of the caravan.

Thanks Birdman. I thought that would be the case but also thought it wise to check.I’m still a bit unsure to tighten it up as that may deflect the floor by 5mm. I may put a 5mm spacer between the floor and the bracket then tighten the bolt. I would sent a photo but I am not computer savvy.

Handbrake cables fit in the lower bracket with two holes the upper is the floor fixing,
