Hi
We’ve got a 1991/2 Abi ace globetrotter that we’ve had for a few years but this year a strange problem/issue has started. All the taps are bled through ok but after the hot water is put on to heat and aloud to cool after use the next time it’s used we get a lot of air coming through before the water starts spiting and finally coming through normally. This hasn’t done this on previous year and we can’t see any leaks , is it something of a known problem or something to be worried about ?

Sounds to me like you have a problem with a non-return valve, which is allowing water to run back into your water container. When you next draw water it's like starting from scratch as you have to bleed the taps again. My caravan is of a similar age and I had the same problem with my old Cascade water heater, which later failed completely for a different reason, and I replaced it with a different type.

There is a another way to fix this problem and thats by fitting a whale non-return into the pickup pipe, warm the pick-up pipe in hot water and shove the valve in with a wooden spoon handle, then reattach to the pump

The tell tale sign of hot water getting back into the aquaroll over time is that the cold water fill hose outside feels warm instead of cold. Often a bit of detritus is trapped in the valve and therefore it doesn't seal properly. As to where that valve is located can be quite another story. It can be included in the bulkhead fitting, in-line to the pump feed or as in my case it's part of the actual pump head.
