Was going to get a new ish, coachman but after reading so many problems coachmans are having. Looking for some experience from you guys.
Been caravaning for 20 years. Always had bailey but now the kids have grown up need a side fixed bed end bathroom layout.
So any recommendations much appreciated.

I think all caravan manufacturers have similar problems these days. They just don’t make them like they used to. From being around a number of forums for many years, people seem to have complaints about all the main manufacturers. I would find a caravan that suits you and that you like and then, if buying new, buy from a reputable dealer close to where you live and be prepared to keep taking it back to get all the warranty issues sorted out. If buying second hand, make sure you get it fully checked out for damp as that is the biggest caravan killer.

We bought our most recent caravan (a Swift) in 2018 and must have taken it back to get at least a dozen warranty issues dealt with. None of them were major, just small things, but when you spend that much money, you want it to be right so we persisted and we are now very happy with our caravan. I have read similar posts from people with every major brand of caravan.

Good luck with your search.

I think that often the key thing is the dealer rather than the make/model. Some seem to be able to sort things far more quickly than others. We have bought a few vans from Chichester Caravans in Bromsgrove over the years and always had good service and prompt attention to any niggles - nothing dramatic (touch wood). Sadly they were removed from the Chichester group and are now trading as Chichestercaravansnorth.... hopefully they can carry on but now they only deal with Bailey. Their new website doesn't inspire much confidence but the staff appear to be largely the same, but not heard from Russell Innet for a while .....

One thing I would say is, chasing the best deal isn’t always the best route to go. Any problems you may have the supplying dealer could be a long way from home.

We've had 3 Coachman caravans from new and have had a few little niggles with them (annoying but sorted under warranty), otherwise very happy. It was a similar story with the Lunar vans we had, so good advice is as above, to choose a van that suits you, get it from a dealer you trust as close to home as possible and be prepared to be a pain in the neck until you are completely happy with everything.

We switched to coachman in 2022, been a great van, love it
I think all types have problems, just like cars, nothings perfect, people will always have bias - it’s just human nature
We had Bailey now coachman , had great times with both
My only tip would be go easy on the tech, all this self levelling type of thing , that sort of thing will go wrong, leveling a van is easy when you have the basic skills and kit to set up
