ok first of all , DONT use milton! its puriclen you need, the reason not to use milton is that it has a high salt content which damages all the internal surfaces of your water heater and causes it to corrode from the inside out,

Milton is suitable if you are just sterlising plastic components such as babies bottles and utensils etc. including plastic water pipes but the water heater contains a heater element the same as an electric kettle which if you read the label on a Milton sterilising bottle it clearly states that it will cause damage to steel components due to it's bleaching compound. Therefore it's not a practical product to sterilise a caravan water system with but the correct product for the job is Puriclean because it also destroys the bio-film which is the bacteria that clings to the plastic surface. Ask a caravan service engineer how many times they have had to replace a prematurely worn out heater due to strelising their water system with Milton.
Puriclean is made by Clean Tabs which you can read more about the the product in the link below.
Bit of an update to my last post, been doing a bit of digging.
VWP and Puriclean are made by the same people, Clean Tabs. Containers are exactly the same, best guess is it's the same stuff targeted at different markets.
I've emailed them for further clarification so lets see what they say.
My thinking is that it's going to be a lot cheaper to purchase from brewing supply shops (it's used frequently and continually) than from caravan accessory places.
I use puriclean its not expensive, however if you're buying from a brewers shop you could kill two birds by buying some citric acid from them and descaling the system at the same time.
I use white vinegar to descale since the brew shop closed down, then sterilise and clean with Puriclean.

dosages will be available in the internet,
Hi Paul, thanks for input, I've used vinegar in the old van to descale but not run it through this one yet.
But yes, I might do it this time whilst I'm messing with it.

Puriclean and VWP Cleaner-Sterilser share some base chemistry, but they are both formulated in different ways to serve their respective purposes. Puriclean is NSF Ansi 60 approved whereas VWP isn’t.
As we never drink anything that comes through the caravan water system,i never do it. Unless you do it every time you use caravan it achieves very little.Being involved testing water systems during working life, if any water lies stagnant in a system for only a small length of time bacteria starts to develope and the warmer the temperature the quicker it happens.
