Just wondering how you all keep your aqua rolls or water containers clean?

When we had our Freedom we only had a small (10 litre) container so I used to wash it out with Milton at the start of the season and then with fairy liquid before each outing.

With the new (to us) ABI the water container sits outside, and we have an aquaroll.  Before we used it for the first time this weekend I did the whole system with Milton and it was fine.  But it is a bit bulky to try to wash out with fairy before each weekend away (I will be rinsing the bubbles out for hours and hours!).

So what do you all do to keep it fresh and usable?

This topic comes up quite frequently.  We (like a lot of others) just sterilise the aquaroll with Milton if it hasn't been used for a couple of weeks or more.  We don't drink the water from the caravan taps anyway, because it tastes of plastic and we don't think it's nice to drink water which may have been sitting around in the aquaroll or pipework in warm weather.  Any water which is consumed without boiling it first comes from a jug  or Brita filter, filled at the site supply tap.

We drink bottled water when away.

Aside from the early morning cuppa (which is boiled) the water is only used for washing and dishes, so we don't really have a problem.

Just to balance the argument slightly.

I rinse my Aquaroll before each trip using Milton, which I also use to rinse out the whole caravan system. I them flush through with fresh water, so any water left in the system has only been there as long as it takes to drive to the site. I don't have a filter so that is not an issue.

We all drink the water from the caravan system as we don't get any funny tastes and that is what it is designed for. I mean I didn't spend the best part of £12k so that I could walk to the site tap each time I need a drink! Plus how often does each site sterilise its taps? Not often I'll wager!

we use milton too

Milton should be fine.  I use similar stuff called puriclean  and let it stand in th aquaroll and caravan water system for 12 hours.

you should not leave milton in the hotwater tank for more than one hour as milton likes to eat stainless steel tanks.i have been asking for 12 months or more in various places,how do you know the site water system is safe,ie.is it tested every 12 months by the health people?as a rule its delivered to tap in a plastic pipe.
