I am trying to find out if anybody elses Lunar has had cracks appear on the front panel where the front locker gas struts fix to it. Ours is a Lunar Quaser fb 2007 model which has already had the front panel replaced because of this and now the replacement has done the same! Please inspect yours as it is something you may not have noticed!!!!
Lunar say they are not aware of a design fault but seems strange to me!!!! It will be interesting to see if it has happened to any other Lunars
Ours is a Lunar Quasar 525 2007, I haven't checked the front panel but OH may have. But I do know it has some crazing on the back panel bottom right of number plate, also we think work top in kitchen is pushing away from wall even though it's not loose. We had it serviced in March and they informed Lunar about these problems but Lunar have not got back to us yet. Lunar seem to be very slow at sorting things out or they have just conveniently forgotten. We will give the dealer a ring. It's not good when you spend a lot of money on something new and then you have problems as though the van is a few years old. We have had all our seats and back rests changed because they were too soft, we didn't notice until we used the van but Lunar don't use sprung interior just foam! - a bit penny pinching really. Also we have had one new panel and shower tray due to split in wall panel and OH fell through the shower tray lol!! Fingers crossed nothing else goes wrong.

Just been out & checked our front panel, (see June's post above), & we too have cracks in the same place, Have rung Campbell's & they say Lunar have not replied to them yet. So 8 weeks after we informed them (about the crazing & units moving away from the wall) we are still waiting for them to contact the dealer with either a go ahead to do the job, or arrange for it to be taken back to the factory (which Campbells suggested was the preferred option, how someone living down south or scotland would do this is a mystery tho'). Have added cracks in front to list with Campbells & will let you know when (if) we hear anything from Lunar.
See you soon, Bernard
P.S. to be fair to Lunar, once they got "on the case" regarding the cushions they did swap them all fairly quickly, (once they managed to get the sizes right) & no quibbling so hope fully they will be the same with the rest of the jobs.
I have a 2007 Lunar Ariva and although I no cracks in front panel, from almost day 1 we have felt that seat cushions squash too easily and give little support. How did you convince Dealer/Lunar to change them and are the new ones firmer and more resiliant.
my Lunar Lexon 640 is a year old in June , there are no cracks and the seating is fine , not all cracks are down to the manufacturer , i have lost count of the times i have seen footballs crashing into the front of caravans
Rfoster, we didn't really have a problem getting them changed we just explained to them that they went to nothing & felt "empty" when sat upon after a few weeks use. The new ones are better, & although they do not have springs, do regain their shape and do not squash as much as the first ones.
Joe, glad to hear you aren't having any problems, possibly the lexon has a higher grade of seating- possibly sprung, as it is a more expensive model, I will treat your comment regarding footballs as an ill informed opinion having not seen the cracks in question.
We have a 2007 Zenith GTS, I havent checked the front for cracks but will be when going down to van in June. I have noticed tho that the front locker doesnt seem to close right, there is a gap on left hand side at he top that I can place my little finger in & the right hand side is fully closed in against the main body. Maybe thats another fault that has arrisen "Faulty locker doors".
------------- I'm just a slave to the outdoor life!!!!!!!
Custer, We have a 2005 Zenith Four and our front locker also doesnt have a proper fit and the locks are a little flimsey, shame really that Lunar havn t paid attention to detail on some of there vans. I have to say we really like the van, which we have had from new.
Thanks everyone. Sounds like it could be something for other owners to keep an eye on as Junezhubby found them on theirs when he looked. Sorry bernard I did laugh when I read June's post about you falling through the shower tray!!! That was until you posted you also ahd the cracks in the front panel and I realised I may too fall through the shower tray!!!!!!!!!
Our Dealer's area service manager is in contact with Lunar now as he also agrees that it is unacceptable for 2 panels to have had these cracks in less than a year and both appearing by the 2nd outing each time. I will keep you updated!!!
Quick update Folks, last night I e-mailed Lunar's Customer service manager & recieved a prompt reply this afternoon. She informed me that they had not recieved a claim from Campbells, so she had contacted them and Campbells will now submit the claim to them. On reflection, I should have chased Campbells sooner as it appears to be a breakdown in communication, so fingers crossed we will recieve the same prompt service as we did with the cushions (& the shower tray!!). After all, some problems will occur & it's the sorting them out that counts more than anything. For what it's worth we also had a problem with the fridge (thetford) and when we rang Campbells they checked they had the part & I went round the next day to have it fitted. So, up to now although we do get upset when things aren't going right with our "baby" at least we have been sorted as quickly as poss so it probably is just a genuine slip up in communication. Will let yuo know when we hear anything
See you all soon, Bernard.
P.S. Linda I am sure your svelte frame will not have the same effect on a shower tray as my well proportioned (says me), one-but try not to stand on the waste outlet just in case!!
Just looked at our 11 month old quasar 615 and the place the stuts are bolted to on the caravan front (rather than locker door) is reinforced with a 6" strip of... something white?? pop riveted on.... is yours, or was mine modified before sale?
We too find the seat foam too squashy while sitting but ok for sleeping, is the harder stuff still ok to sleep on?
We have the Lunar Solaris 2,brilliant van no problems.Hoever a friend has the Lexon I believe and has experienced the same problem with cracks.I think that this caused by the pressure and leverage of the gas struts
Lunar have had now had my van back at the factory after the replacement front laso cracked, they repaired the cracks rather than replaced the front this time however when OH collected it he noticed a new crack higher up on the locker which has only appeared since they have had it. I am really fed up with this now can we request a replacemnet or money back as this has been ongoing since we 1st bought the van last summer?!
Linda-sorry to have took so long to reply-must be catching from Lunar/Campbells. Basically, no we are not sorted, Lunar sent someone to repair the cracks in the front panel & the crazing in the back panel, after eventually agreeing a suitable date with the firm who were doing the job, on the engineers arrival we were told the front panel was not made by them so he could not do anything with that, however he did a good job on the crazing on the back one. Since then it has been a case of being batted around by campbells who never seem to know what's happening & always seem to think that I am ringing for the first time, then blame lunar for not replying. So I have rung them again & am awaiting a return call r.e. what the next move is. We were offered the chance to return the van to the factory for a couple of weeks over the summer shutdown but declined for a couple of reasons- If the van needs to go back to the factory for a repair, this would suggest to me it is terminally goosed-has anyone had to return a car to the factory for a repair? We had time away booked when they wanted it &, as a question -still unanswered- if we lived in Cornwall or northern Scotland would we have to return it to the factory? Will let you know when they ring back (or when I get sick of waiting & ring them-which is more likely).
