Just had a letter from Burstner stating that all Caravans and Motorhomes between 1998-2005 have to have their windows modified as the outer may become detatched from the inner due to UV exposure. They emphasise that you must secure each window by means of a strong adhesive tape before embarking on your next trip.If you bought your van or motorhome and have not been notified you should contact your nearest Burstner dealer with your Chassis No to find out if yours is affected.Go to www.polyplastic-pass.nl for info on these safety measure.

Went to pick mine up from storage just as it was going into the workshop to have the windows done under warranty.

luckily our dealer was already on the case and was in the process of doing the Burstner approved modifications.

bought my van through an insurance company, was subject to payout after being stolen,

Th front window of it has been split since i bought it, but as its permanantly sited i never bothered with it.

I do have trouble getting spares as everyone wants chassis number but its been removed when stolen, sure i have it on paperwork though..

Wonder if mine would be covered under warrenty???

Wondering if anyone could supply a pic of the fix for the Burstner window - looking at purchasing an 06 s530 tl , asked the seller about the recall in the service book but it is not marked up - it does have 4 grey buttons on the corners of the window and I 'think' from reading other foums that it is the fix  - but confirmation would be great.

I had the free security repair done last week after having noticed myself that the Windows were separating. My wife saw the "snow" inside the windows whilst cleaning the camper having returned from a 3500 km trip around Europe. So I took a close look.
I called Herr Schmalz at Buerstners head office (I speak fluent German so was able to discuss the exact problem with him). The problem is caused by the "colour" applied to the windows. This causes the two panels to separate as it affected by UV and in extreme circumstances the outer panel to fly off.
The security repair is just to place the 4 screws in each corner of the windows. This should stop the outer panel flying off. However driving back from the dealer at 90 km/hour I watched the foremost side window outer panel flexing. So I took a closer look again when I got home.
The panels are now completely detached from one another except for the screws so I have taken Herr Schmalz's advice and have ordered replacements for the 3 windows affected. I don't trust the retaining power of the 4 screws.
As they, Buerstner, offer only a 65% discount on the replacements it will cost me €346,50 plus VAT. I asked Herr Scmalz if Buerstner had been sued yet (an easy process in Germany) he intimated to me that the court had rejected the claim.
I would like to be able to find the price for the windows in other countries but cannot find any price lists. Part numbers are 200402123 and 200402124. Sizes 900 x 520. Here they are €330.00 each. Any info would be appreciated.

Johnks, the windows are Dutch. Some Swift vans were affected as well. The problem's Europe-wide.

The main problem seems to be that if everyone sues the manufacturer,Polyplastic, they're such a small company, they'll just pull the plug and declare themselves bankrupt.

Well I bought it!!!!
Have emailed Burstner and they emailed back to say contact a company in south Derbyshire. Spoke to them and they will come out do the windows as they haven't been done, free, but there is a £35 charge to come out or free if we take it in. Probably cost me that in fuel!! Also offered new windows for 65% discount. No time limit on it as yet so were going to leave it for a while and see.

Happy days :)

I had four windows replaced in my Burstner S500TS under the Polyplastics 65% discount offer in June this year (the large front window had earlier been replaced F.O.C. during the warranty period). These were the front/side two windows, the kitchen window and rear bedroon window and, IIRC, the cost was around £420.
