We are new to caravanning and are off on our first trip at Easter.
I was wondering which do most people use? When we were camping we used quilts,i would prefer to use them in the van too but does it make it much more easier (weight and storage wise) to use sleeping bags?
Both my daughter & I love our sleeping bags, but my son prefers a quilt! We all have envelope, poly cotton bags so unzipped he can use his just like a quilt.
I like the fact they have stuff sacks, but you could use a pillowslip as a stuff sack for a single quilt, doubt a double would fit though. I wouldn't have thought there'd be much difference in the weights.
To be honest, I think it's just personal preference
We've always used sleeping bags, but quite generous sized square ones. They stuff away under the seats easily and you don't need to bother with a bottom sheet.
We also use quilts, however when we went away in January we took the sleeping bag as its flannelette lind lovely and warm but a struggle to get in and out of shan't use it again in the van.
King size sleeping bags. Love 'em. I bought very good quality ones and they are now about 25 years old. I tried these lightweight scrunch up things and couldnt bear it.
We use both i prefer the quilt as i don't like being zipped up in a sleeping bag and i always need the loo in he night ,my daughter prefers the sleeping bag she makes the bed up throws her sleeping bag on it.

Life's to short make the most of everyday
being a tenter that has gone posh I still prefer my gelert 3 season bag with a liner, mummy bag so always cosy and can use it as a duvet but when it is cold and the leccy has tripped (by some clown running 5 fan heaters) I can zip myself in and be toasty. for mum it is 2 envelope bags zipped together and the bag thrown over to avoid drafts, she also puts a shetland wool blanket under her bag. she does feel the cold but even at easter when it was way below freezing she was warm, okay she did steal my fleece blanket
main thing i say is to wear good pj's, fleecy tracky bottoms and t-shirt for me, nighty and fleece dressing gown for dm, dont be scared to wear a hat as well also bring the sleeping kit out of the lockers an hour or so before going to bed as the lockers are cold, this allows some warmth to get into the kit
Duvet's for us 2 and the kids have sleeping bags. Had to buy dd a new sleeping bag because she feels the cold so much but the other 2 are always warm at night and they have 2 cheapie tesco's ones.
