Hello, does anyone know of a caravan, a single axle preferably that has an island bed, 2 or 4 berth.  Getting fed up of making the bed up continually but due to teenagers don't want a toilet in the bedroom!  Any ideas welcome.

Both Bailey and Swift make then and I am sure other manufacturers do as well. When we have looked at island beds, although we like the idea, we have always thought the toilet/shower protrudes too far into the main body of the van. However from what you say that could be a positive advantage!

There's an Adria on a single axle - the Adora 642UP - with a lovely island fixed bed.  The toilet compartment is in the middle of the van - but the shower cubicle is 'en-suite' in the bedroom - so they are separate areas.  There's also a choice of the same layout with two single beds at the end.  We had a really good look around it at the NEC - as well as the Adora 612DT and were very nearly tempted but the P ex offered was not enough, and we would have needed to have sold our van to buy the new one.  At the time the vans were cheap, too, but prices were due to go up the weekend after the show, because they are produced in Slovenia and the exchange rate had seriously affected prices.

The vans still have a good sized kitchen and the DT in particular has a very natty pull-out shelf arrangement.  We'd still be interested if we'd sold our van - but don't want to commit to buying another without selling first.

Ok Peter don't worry, really love that bailey virginia. We have a bailey now and I love it.  Will have to have a look at the Adria when I can find their website.

my mate cath has one and assures me that it is a great van, think she is away in it atm. the compass is a far better build quality than a bailey and is better finished and being on a bpw chassis as opposed to the usual alko it tows like a dream. (or so she tells me)

Hi there,  We have an Lunar Solaris 3 and it has the island bed, we have had the van since new 2007 and very happy with it, plenty of space in the round shower cubical but the toilet and hand basin is a bit small, but hey you can't have everything, but all in all we are very happy with it.

We have a Lunar Lexon 585Si. We've had it for over a year now and can quite honestly say that we think it is the best laid out van we have ever owned, and we've owned a few. In fact we had three attempts at fixed beds before getting to the Si.

We find the shower/toilet layout perfect for us - but others are not so sure. Toilet/basin on one side of the van, shower on the other. Shower opens straight out into the bedroom.

For us - perfect, but we understand everybody has a different opinion.

Hi there, we have the senator virginia and love it!! We bought it for exactly the same reason as you pointed out - we didnt want kids traipsing through to the loo all night.

Only problem is the short front seats. They are definately too short to be used as singles and we have to make it up as a double for our son. Our 15 year old daughter sleeps in the awning and much prefers her own space!!

But we bought with the future in mind, kids wont be coming for very much longer, indeed if they can persude grandma to let them stay at hers they are thrilled!! When we have been away on our own it is brilliant and we cant fault it.

Jo, My kids are 15 and 17 and we are going away at easter for the first time without the  17 year old. We are leaving him at home and taking grandma!!!  My daughter is still quite happy to come away with us, thank God or we wouldn't have a house to come back to.   OH is gonna sleep in the awning with the dogs and us 3 females will have the van to ourselves.   We were considering getting a 2 birth but you never know when they are going to decide to 'tag' along!

Been looking at the Lunar online. Am I correct in thinking the toilet door is used to close off the bedroom? So it means the WC is "open" to the bedroom when the bedroom is closed off?

Its not quite clear looking at the layout online.
