No defo say's marsdon.( is there such thing as a mardon then?) the lady's going to email me some pics later so hopefully it will look half about. Its a 1995 4 berth with awning and she claims its very tidy and damp free. I wish we had hung onto our swift now as that was a nice van but hubby had ideas of getting a hobby, now he realizes thats not a good idea. Its so weird looking out into the garden and seeing no caravan . We had to sell it first to be able to raise enough cash to get another one and now we're stuck lol. I've found 25 different websites with caravan sales so hopefully should get sorted before the bank holiday!

Good luck carney33,

I hope you get it sorted soon, if you lived closer I could lend you a tent, we are away in our caravan over bank holiday now,  so tent will be just sat in the garage

Hope you find one soon, Don't rush into anything though

Yes, there is such a thing as a Mardon - we have one, a 1989 Mardon Meridian 390/2 - so I think maybe the lady in question has made a spelling mistake. Is it on ebay?

They were very good caravans, manufactured in Yorkshire with good quality stuff and built to last. I don't know what year they ceased production though. If it's tidy and really is damp free, then it'll be a decent van and worth getting. Can you post some pics when you get them?

Some friends of ours had a 'Mardon' caravan in the 90s. It was a beautiful van and quality, but have never heard of a Marsdon.

I had a Mardon Clasic which I did like however, when I tried to trade it in not many dealers were interested as they were prone to damp which mine did have. It was supposidly repaired by the company I bought it from under warranty but when I finally did trade it in the dealer reached up into the top right and left of the gas box and came out with a hand full of rotten wooden framework. He sold it on advertised as was with a list of problems. I I said earlier I loved the van as it was well designed but fell into the trap as one of my first vans. If I can figure how to I will post a picture of our van.

I think it will be a Mardon, but IIRC they went bust before 1995 - 1993 or 4 - they were based near Hull and some of the ex-employees set up a business specialising in repairing them:

We had a Mardon Classique until recently. It was manufactured in 1989  and we had it when 3 yrs old. Very reliable - no damp as hubby sealed it several times.

We pick our new van up tomorrow - and we are so excited - the house is ful of gear to put in it, new stuff and some old from the Mardon.

Hi guys thanks for the info. The lady sent me some pics and its a marsdon saffron GT. She said roughly a 95 but apparently the company went bust and the employees set up a new business in 92 so obvioulsy van isnt that new. I didnt like the pics either, a bit too small and crusty looking inside lol...however getting bk to the caravan hunt....i know i said we wouldnt buy one...but....Hubby is looking at a hobby this morning very near to us. Its a shorter one than normal and only weighs 1700kg. We checked our log book last night on our van and it weighs more than i thought. For some reason i thought it was 1960ish kg it is infact 2800kg so surely this should be ok for towing? I've rang about 7 campsites so far that i like the look of and 6 out of 7 has said yes they will accept it onsite whoo hoo!  Go on pee on my fire and tell me its still no good lol.

Did you advise thet you would be towing it on site with a van. Many sites will not allow commercial type vehicles.

So coupled with what Bordercaz says in her post, it is a Mardon

Hi eddie, because our van doesn't have signwriting and has back windows & seats they have been fine about it. I think most campsites are fine about it as long as you give them a call first to assure them your not pikeys lol, but that said they don't seem to like transits.
