 we already tow our lunar clubman ( 4/5 berth 21 footer) with a citroen relay 16 seater minibus, gross weight apparently 3500( not that i know much about these things lol , but tried to look it up and get to grips with it).

 we have just put a deposit on a year 2000 hobby prestige 620, and from reading the posts i gather its one that you need to tow with a commercial .

 am i right in thinking our bus is big and heavy enough ?

 it confused me a bit that its bang on 3500 , and the rules give either under or over , but dont state whats ok if your right on the line

yes ive read the regs , but the confusion for me , is it clearly states rules for under or over 3500 , but ours is neither  .

 what do the owners of this type and size of hobby tow them with then ??

 weve seen plenty on the touring sites we use , so theyre towing them with something( and ive never yet seen a lorry on site with one)

Yep the hobby is too wide so needs to be towed with a vehicle with weight of 3501kg or greater, your van doesn't fit the bill.

Probably a sensible decision, there are some Hobby forums and a lot of people seem to use vehicles like Pajeros but of course they are not legal but this doesn't seem to worry them!  It would worry me, especially if I had an accident and the insurer voided my policy!

One of our neighbours has an oversized Hobby with a Paj, whenever it is being prepped for a holiday I look at it and wince.

Thought that most people bought Hobby's for siting not for towing...... think you have made the right decision in buying an Avondale.

Just a thought - are you aware Avondale are no longer trading?

 its a 2002 van , we dont have the budget for anything newer, so warranty etc isnt an issue , i would assume repairs/servicing could be done anywhere. hope i'm right .
