A question from my OH who is the chef in this relationship. We are looking for a caravan and have seen several with spotless, unused ovens. Is this because ovens on bottled gas are unreliable or because people just dont use them when on holiday? OH loves to cook and would make good use of an oven in the colder months. At the moment we are dismissing vans without an oven but we dont want to pass up on the otherwise perfect van because it doesnt have one if they are not worth the space they take up. Thanks
dont forget weather permitting BBQ is the favoured method of cooking by most, our Oven is a stoves one and is brilliant cooked chickens, beef etc no problem. and ours is spotless too

I always use the cooker/oven when we go away.Caravanning is the only way we can get so many holidays throughout the year, so eating out is a luxury for us.I cook meals just like I do at home. I even cooked a roast over Easter!
We have just collected our new van, a Lunar 252L, and the whole cooker doesn’t even look like it has been touched. All the better for me I say!
I make full use of the oven and hob in our caravan. I keep it as spotless as possible though because any tiny remains of food or grease will fur up with mould by the time you next use the van!
I use the oven all the time and wouldn't contemplate buying another van without one. My lot like proper roast dinners and the like and I'd be lost without the oven. Even when cooking full English for 8 (yes, I have done this in the van) its really useful for keeping the sausages warm while you are cooking the bacon!!

We always use ours!! My friend has an old Lunar and it has no oven but she bought an electric one from Lidl which has a timer on and is good it just fits in the cupboard under the hob, think it was £29 or there abouts!!

We also used ours to do a roast chicken, we used those oven bags so we did not have to clean the oven. The Chicken browned as normal and was unbelievably moist.
We don't have an oven - but have bought one of those small ovens which we use outside in the awning, rather than in the van. It's not the really tiny one which would only take a piece of pizza, but is about the size of a small microwave, and has two shelves, so you can cook a roast, plus potatoes. It works fantastically well, and doesn't use any gas - so even better! When it's not in use it stows away under one of the front bench seats.
we always use our oven cook all sorts from lasagne to roasts does take a bit longer and I had to buy another shelf as there was only one in it.Wouldn't buy a caravan without an oven to me it's an essential.

I think it all depends on what time of year you are away..... we will cook outside in the summer months or when the weather premits.....when we are away at other colder times of year we use the oven. I wouldn't be without the oven.....
