Start of Rant.
We store our van at the side of the house. The parking area is accessed by a shared drive. Next door have 4 cars and we turn a blind eye to them parking on the shared access because we have alternative off street car parking and it gives us a bit more security with the access being blocked by a vehicle for 90% of the time.
They have always been a bit jelous of our vans, preferring to mock. Again this falls on deaf ears.
They alway create a bit of a fuss when we ask them to move the blocking car so we can either put the van away or get it out. Today I am having the van services at home. It's usual parling space is a bit confined to allow the service so I want to park it on the 'shared' part of the drive.
You would not believe the looks of indignance....... "What, you want to park your Caravan on OUR parking space?? for the day?????"

What a joke! Next time they park blocking your way out park your car behind them and go out for the day!
We also have a shared drive but have turned our front lawn into our main drive so that we can get 3 cars on and less hassle with next door, We just leave them to park on it but I know they wouldn't mind if we had to park on the drive .
Thats the trouble with shared drives, Ignore there jealousy though, I bet you get more holidays than they do,
Forgot also the other day to thank you for your beach recommendations for the gower, We vsiited plenty of the beaches down there, our fave being rhossilli, closely followed by Oxwich
Hope your service goes ok.

Neighbours can be very difficult! My Aunt (who is 89 yrs old but still very sound of mind and limb!) lives down a lane/cul-de-sac which is unadopted by the Council, and was therefore getting into a terrible state. In fact, it was like driving down a waterfall to get to her house! All the neighbours eventually got together and had meetings with the Council to have the road properly surfaced - at the residents expense - with the work being done by the Council. The costs were worked out by the amount of frontage onto the road each resident had, my Aunt living in a bungalow sideways on to the road ended up with the biggest bill, even though she doesnt actually drive anymore. But she paid up without complaint, a cost of almost £11,000.
HOWEVER the "gentleman" who lives next door to her, and at the very end of said road, refused to pay a penny towards the new road, and wanted nothing to do with it. So the new road surface ends at the boundary of his property, and he has gone to the expense of erecting those lockable security posts across the road so that no one can drive on his bit!! The fact that he, his family, visitors and the Sainsburys delivery van have to drive across the new road he refused to pay for to get to his bumpy unmade up bit seems to have conveniently bypassed him!!
Nowt so queer as folk, as we say here in God's own county!

What a coincidence that this topic has come up........
My daughter passed her driving test 3 months ago and a week ago got her first car. I had warned her that parking may be a problem as we don;t have a drive but the whole f our front garden has been tarmaced and our Sedona and caravan are parked there with our Astra in front of them on the road. Most houses around me have drives but some don't use them.
My daughter decided to park across the road outside an old fellas house who has one car a big drive and keeps his car in the garage. When his daughter visits she parks on the drive.
Suddenly he now waits for daughter to leave then parks his car in front of the house on the road, It seems that since my daughter has had her car most are now parking on the road who have long drives and she has to resort to parking up the road on the other side of the road where she can't keep an eye on her car. She is only 21 and is quite upset at how people have reacted. We have lived here for 6 years but only really know our immediate neighbours.
I hate to think what will happen next week when we park our BIGGER caravan on the front.

Try going head to head with them....
"We noticed you don't seem to use your drive, would it be possible to park one of our cars there?"
They will probably say no, but they will also know you have noticed their strange behaviour.
Alternatively, crash into one of them! They will put the claim through their insurance company, who have doubtless been told that the car is kept on the drive. When you tell them that it is always in the road, i expect their cover will be null and void!

Did you ask if they minded you parking outside their house on a long term basis?
Perhaps they are just a bit miffed?

Thats a tad extreme!
Made me laugh though, Perhaps I am to soft, someone parked outside mine the other day across our drop kerb and went to a neighbours house, but as the neighbour had just had a baby I knew there would be lots of visitors and didn't want to disturb so I had to bounce the car off the kerb (slowly of course)
OH says I am to placid sometimes, Probably wouldn;t have been if I had damaged the car though.
