Start of Rant.

We store our van at the side of the house.  The parking area is accessed by a shared drive.  Next door have 4 cars and we turn a blind eye to them parking on the shared access because we have alternative off street car parking and it gives us a bit more security with the access being blocked by a vehicle for 90% of the time.

They have always been a bit jelous of our vans, preferring to mock.  Again this falls on deaf ears.

They alway create a bit of a fuss when we ask them to move the blocking car so we can either put the van away or get it out.  Today I am having the van services at home.   It's usual parling space is a bit confined to allow the service so I want to park it on the 'shared' part of the drive.

You would not believe the looks of indignance....... "What, you want to park your Caravan on OUR parking space??  for the day?????"

Rant Over

What a joke! Next time they park blocking your way out park your car behind them and go out for the day!

We also have a shared drive but have turned our front lawn into our main drive so that we can get 3 cars on and less hassle with next door, We just leave them to park on it but I know they wouldn't mind if we had to park on the drive .

Thats the trouble with shared drives, Ignore there jealousy though, I bet you get more holidays than they do,

Forgot also the other day to thank you for your beach recommendations for the gower, We vsiited plenty of the beaches down there, our fave being rhossilli, closely followed by Oxwich

Hope your service goes ok.

Neighbours are a pain in the A***.

We have a house with a drive at the back, going in to our garage (we live on corner) It is parallel with house at the backs drive, he moaned like holy hell when we parked our caravan there, but luckily we have drive at the front and down side of house, so thats where it is at the mo. But also when there is a car parked on the back he told my son not to step on his drive as he took his bike into the garage, I think hes nuts prob got nothing better to do!!!

Well Scarletsfan you know my infamous neighbour from last year, well he is still building his house after threatening to slit the builder's throat and employing his own people quite some weeks ago.  If his grinder starts up one more time today I swear I will kill him.

I also live next door to maniacs but we have separate drives and next to mine is a bridleway.  We live on an A road  and I have room on the drive for the motorhome and both cars as does he (he has 3 cars)   The problem is that between both our front walls and the road is a 6 metre wide strip of tarmac ideal for when we have visitors or deliveries ect   Parking heaven  This strip does not belong to us it belongs to the council but if anyone that this nutter doesn't know parks or even stops in front of his house (even though he doesn't use it) he plays merry h**l he rings the police, the council and runs around the nieghbours trying to find the felon.

what a varied and wonderful world we live in

There really are some saddos around, where we used to live there we're no drives so was shared street parking, the bloke across the road used to let unknown car tyres down or park his car so close they could not get out,  I used to tell him my friends and familys cars and reg numbers if we we're having visitors or they would come out to some kind of damage, He was fine if he knew the car,

If we ever changed cars we would park round the corner until I could get hold of him to tell him we had changed the car incase it got damaged,.

We used to call him the traffic warden from hell!

Neighbours can be very difficult!  My Aunt (who is 89 yrs old but still very sound of mind and limb!) lives down a lane/cul-de-sac which is unadopted by the Council, and was therefore getting into a terrible state. In fact, it was like driving down a waterfall to get to her house!  All the neighbours eventually got together and had meetings with the Council to have the road properly surfaced - at the residents expense - with the work being done by the Council. The costs were worked out by the amount of frontage onto the road each resident had, my Aunt living in a bungalow sideways on to the road ended up with the biggest bill, even though she doesnt actually drive anymore.  But she paid up without complaint, a cost of almost £11,000.

HOWEVER the "gentleman" who lives next door to her, and at the very end of said road, refused to pay a penny towards the new road, and wanted nothing to do with it. So the new road surface ends at the boundary of his property, and he has gone to the expense of erecting those lockable security posts across the road so that no one can drive on his bit!! The fact that he, his family, visitors and the Sainsburys delivery van have to drive across the new road he refused to pay for to get to his bumpy unmade up bit seems to have conveniently bypassed him!!

Nowt so queer as folk, as we say here in God's own county!

there is no easy answer to this.  i dont know why but people get jealous. or just want to be awkward.

we keep our van at a house near where we live there are three others there one being my sister and OH. i have more rows with my oh over their  caravan than any thing else they have a big van and either dont leave us enough room to pass them when we are going out ( we never tell them about this we just try to cope) or they do tell us and complain repeatedly to us that we are getting too close to them.

we have been looking for a storage place but they  all seem to be parked so close together  and we have heard tales of vans being dented due to the others vans. not taking enough care.

move house i think would be favourite17

never mind     with the ever rapid increase in popularity of caravans and motorhomes pretty soon the "saddoes" will be in the minority.

I wonder if we will then have a tv program about playing conkers with sports cars  (with Clarkson sat in one of em)

What a coincidence that this topic has come up........

My daughter passed her driving test 3 months ago and a week ago got her first car. I had warned her that parking may be a problem as we don;t have a drive but the whole f our front garden has been tarmaced and our Sedona and caravan are parked there with our Astra in front of them on the road. Most houses around me have drives but some don't use them.

My daughter decided to park across the road outside an old fellas house who has one car a big drive and keeps his car in the garage. When his daughter visits she parks on the drive.

Suddenly he now waits for daughter to leave then parks his car in front of the house on the road, It seems that since my daughter has had her car most are now parking on the road who have long drives and she has to resort to parking up the road on the other side of the road where she can't keep an eye on her car. She is only 21 and is quite upset at how people have reacted. We have lived here for 6 years but only really know our immediate neighbours.

I hate to think what will happen next week when we park our BIGGER caravan on the front. 17

Try going head to head with them....

"We noticed you don't seem to use your drive, would it be possible to park one of our cars there?"

They will probably say no, but they will also know you have noticed their strange behaviour.

Alternatively, crash into one of them!   They will put the claim through their insurance company, who have doubtless been told that the car is kept on the drive.   When you tell them that it is always in the road, i expect their cover will be null and void!

Did you ask if they minded you parking outside their house on a long term basis?

Perhaps they are just a bit miffed?

Thats a tad extreme!

Made me laugh though, Perhaps I am to soft, someone parked outside mine the other day across our drop kerb and went to a neighbours house, but as the neighbour had just had a baby I knew there would be lots of visitors and didn't want to disturb so I had to bounce the car off the kerb (slowly of course)

OH says I am to placid sometimes, Probably wouldn;t have been if I had damaged the car though.
