Killing a bit of time waiting for cake to bake so having a quick look at caravans on ebay,as you do! Came across this.Seems too good to be true.What's wrong with it??? Somebody could get a real bargain here!!

One bargain i would be happy to let somebody else buy.

Might need to sell it before the real owner gets home & finds it missing?

Means nothing. Some people still go out into the real world to buy things you know !

My guess is a divorce and a quick sale needed.

As soon as I bought my 'van I was offered one 7 years younger, same spec, with more extras for the same money!

Just hope it is not like another forum i use, Someone bought a car from somebody who went bankrupt & the official receiver now wants the car.

Seems the buyer has little option, It was not the sellers property.

we have just bought an 18 year old van to see how we get on. Currently doing some tidying up work in it.

The thing is, I may be looking to spend a few thousand on one instead of a few hundred, I know it isn't much still but any pointes for at least a 4 berth caravan?

Hmm sounds just like that van i was on about the other day! ( I smell a rat post) I rang the guy, very sheepish, said to email instead and then emailed me back saying he is out of town and will deliver but funds must be paid first.......I could say a very unlady like word about him grrr! He said his was CRIS registered too but didn't give me the number when i asked for it. I bet these peeps won't either! Hmm infact i'm going to email them lol.

I saw something similar on C4C website (£2k for a 2004 Avondale!!) - I e-mailed the seller asking if it was still available and got a response back saying yes, it was available but he had now left the country and the van was with a 'shipping agent'. All I had to do was pay him the money (yeah, right!!) and he would instruct the 'shipping agent' to deliver it to me.

Must have thought I was born yesterday....

There 'aint no such thing as a free lunch!! If it looks too good to be true, it almost certainly is.

Having said that, I've only just clicked on the link and it looks on the level - it's only a classified ad and not an auction so you can arrange to go see before buying etc.

Think of it as a major investment - would you buy it without viewing? If you would then cut out the middleman and give me the money instead!

joking aside I would be loath to part with money for something as important as this until i had personally viewed it and been over it with a damp meter as well as verifying the ownership. Admittedly there are some bargains to be had, but this site has lots of threads relating to ebay "horror" stories as well! Caveat Emptor..(buyer beware!)

The ad could well be genuine, obviously nobody would be daft enough to part with money without seeing the caravan. Provided you viewed it first & everything checks out then you might grab yerself a bargain.

Obviously if you contact the 'seller' & he wants money before you see the caravan then it is a scam, simple as.

I think it is wrong to speculate on here about what could be a genuine ad. If anybody is interested then perhaps they could contact the seller before anybody makes possibly libellous suggestions.

I bought a 1995 Coachman VIP520/4 of ebay, seller had 0 against him name, turns out he was 81 the van he had from new,he also had it resealed costing him £800 Plus a motormover.

It was in mint condition no damp,Full Awning,caravan skirt, 2 x waste containers, aquaroll, bulldog hitch, external pump,radio / tape player & mirrors for the car, all i had to do was replace the on board battery charger plus new tyres

Must admit it did take a month of looking, I would save/ watch a van I liked if it didn't sell wait for it to be relisted and see if the price came down, I noticed someone bought a van and a week later it was up for sale again, so I contacted the the original seller to see what they said & they told me a different story.

ask for the vin/chassis number and check with CRIS cost £12 and save you loads.
