After just posting about info re getting a caravan....we got one!!!!
Its an Elddis Wisp 5 berth with everything we need - bit old (1994) but only 2 owners and is in great condition.
Only thing is that the seats smell of dog - the lady we bought it from had 3 dogs and she must have really cleaned it well as my dd has asthma and she was fine sitting in it. But there is still a very doggy smell.
Can anyone recommend a way to get rid of the smell on the upholstery? (I have removed the curtain for washing)
Thanks

try a proffesional valeter we had car once valeted and he put somethinghe called a bomb previous owner must have been a chimney and when we picke car up never smelt it again
Try Simple Solution from Pets At Home, gets rid of all odours, and stains, let it soak in, and leave for 24 hours, when dry the odour should have gone. Really good on red wine stains too!!!

Thanks, we need an acronym page ;)
I would have thought the smell of the dogs would have penetrated through to the foam in the cushions.
Personally I would replace them, have a look for an upholsterer in your area they will be able to get and cut foam to the size you require.
Give them a good scrub with something nicely perfumed and get them out in the garden in the fresh air for a few hours ( if it ever stops raining for long enough) , good old fresh air works wonders !!!

If you want an alternative to using chemicals to get rid of the smell then try bicarbonate of soda, it's supposed to be great for cleaning all sorts of things, this link has plenty of info..
Quote: Pet Odours To help freshen carpets, sprinkle bicarbonate of soda on the carpet, leave for 10 mins and then vacuum up.
Thanks for all the tips (especially lancscampers as the link is great for other things) I try not to use chemicals and make my own cleaners using vinegar etc. Will try the bicarb trick and if that doesnt do it I got a recipe from the net from here H/made upholstery cleaner - failing that it might have to be new foam :(

Our dog had our car stinking o.h.read some where try coffee or charcoal we put some charcoal in a medium size plant pot and after a while the smell has gone ( about 2 weeks) we now keep the plant pot and charcoal in the back under the seat hopefully no more doggy smells
When buying a second hand caravan I would think the first 2 questions would be do you have animals and are you smokers?. If yes to one or both of them - walk away

We bought an ex demo car 18 months ago and when we drove it there was no smell. In between order and collection someone who smoked used it and we have never got rid of the smell having used every method.
Can't imagine what it is like to have a dog smell in a caravan!!!!!!!!
