Hi,

Does anyone have any experience of one of these 2009 models please?

Would welcome any users experiences on:

Ease of assembly and how long to put up and peg out

How noisy in windy conditions

How waterproof and particularly where awning meets caravan wall

Where to find any reviews - my Google searches have revealed nothing!

Anything else you can think of e.g niggles or plus points!

Obviously not expecting Isabella quality etc but something good enough for 3-5 day outings and will not fall apart after using half a dozen times a year. I can get a brand new 2009 model from a reputable dealer for £152 but limited stock so need to act quickly!

Any help much appreciated

We have the Compactalite 400.  Its fabulous.  Its light its fine to put up.  Just take your time first time and after that its a doddle.  Recommended it to friends and they bought it and they are equally pleased.  First time it rained we had the normal small leakage where the awning rail is but since then nothing as it has obviously tightened up.  It is similar to other lightweiht awnings where it sits next to the caravan sides.  Wde have foam pieces that we sqeeze between the van and the awning and we have no draught problems at all.

I felt the same about the OR Spacelight.  Just waiting for my Kampa Firesta to come now.

I have the compactalite and love it it has a bit that sits next to the van so no draughts, plenty of space goes up in 10 mins but then take your time to peg it down properly mine was £100 and use it all the time. Think mine is a 2008 model though the 2009 ones are even better with fly screens on the windows.

The zip went on ours after about only 3rd time of using, admittedly it was 2007 model.

Hi all, I was thinking of buying a Compactalite 250 from Torskey caravans. The model they are elling at £100 is the 2008 model....does any one have any experiance of this model?

The new 2009 looks a lot nicer, but is it worth the extra cash?

Any advise or comments any one?

We bought the Compactalite 250 last spring and have used it this season. We wanted something quick and easy to put up for some extra space. We have been pleased with the awning, goes up in ten minutes and does what we want it  to. Fits fairly flush against our van, but expect a bit of flapping in a strong wind! But then its only a porch awning. Also, in heavy rain during the night in Scotland (and it really was heavy!) we found the rain had collected in the roof causing it to sag alarmingly! We have not experienced this since and the roof is none the worse for it. We paid around £100 for the awning and £30 for the breathable groundsheet to fit, which we are also pleased with.

Choice ie then the 2008 Compactalite model from Torskey at £100, or I have found the 2009 Compactalite 250 model from Camping and General for £149. Camping General also do Kampa Easy tread Weave tex 2.5x2.5 mtr for £20.

Anniemacxx........where did you source the Compactalite 250?

Thanks for the replies so far to my original post.

I believe the Compactalites for £100 are the 2008 model Compactalite Plus as the 2009 model called Compacta-lite 250 (or 400 depending on size) list price is £179.99. According to my research the 2009 model has strengthened roof material (presumably to deal with rain water sagging roof scenario), larger windows and different colours. Also has external steel front pole for extra stability - don't know if the 2008 model had this.

bazzerg - thanks for the info re Camping and General - £3 cheaper than my supplier!

Anniemacxx......like bazzerg, I'd really like to know where you got yours for £100 - assuming it is the 2009 model. Thanks for your comments......would love to hear from more '250' owners out there.......there must be more of you as the dealer says they are selling really well...three were sold while I was there......I asked the buyers why they chose the '250' but all they said was 'We wanted a lightweight porch awning and saw this'.

gaz mc....Jack and motorcycles!....we should meet!....and I'm also wondering whether it's worth spending the extra £50 for the 2009 model (even though the zip arrangement on the meshed front window means you can't roll the window back sideways).

PS I looked at the new Kampa range but didn't like the fact the front windows only roll up whereas you can have the Compactalite either up or verandah style.

PPS Apparently the '250' is being discounted as the 2010 model will have the current external steel pole fitted internally.
