Listed my old van on Ebay.  Gave a thorough, honest description and didn't ask for silly money.   Took 12 hours to sell from listing it at 11 p.m. to watching it drive away.  I was gobsmacked. 

Take a good selection of photographs and take care to include details of weight, length, exactly what is included, when the van was last serviced etc.  I set a 99p start and a realistic reserve price.  Cost £16+ in listing fees.

I didn't list my phone number, so all contacts from interested buyers came through ebay messages. I did have some cheeky offers, but I did expect that.  Just emailed back saying no thanks and then the van sold within hours anyway.  First people who came to view, arrived with the cash and drove it away

Selling on ebay is no different than selling in the local rag. You will always get the mixture of decent buyers and time wasters. Ebay reaches a massive audience and like someone said they sold one to a buyer in Ireland so people will travel to get the bargain or the van they want. Give it a go but just apply the usual precautions like dont list your address or phone number etc.

HiI sold my caravan on ebay without a problem, I listed it for sale on several websites and also on ebay.  I had a few enquiries on the other websites but couldn't believe the interest through ebay.  I asked a fair price and gave a very thorough honest description.  I had it listed auction style but had an offer after only two days and ended the auction early.

One thing that i think made a lot of difference is that i used a picture hosting to site to upload masses of pictures to and did a video tour on youtube.  Easy but effective.  If people are bidding blind, then they have to have a very good idea what they're getting for their money.

£100? I think you've got it wrong there.

I sold a car on ebay, it was an auction and total listing including fees was £49 

It was about £5 to list the camper and actually £111 if I sold it at the full asking price on a buy it now of £4500. You pay a certain % of the finishing costs and these can be really high.  If you use their classified ads on ebay you pay about £15 to list and no finishing costs. 

We sold our last van on Ebay. omeone on here suggested we try it when I asked for advice.

We had a 26 month old Pageant Provence in very good condition. We went to our local dealer to establish its value. Came home & decided what to ask for it including the mover etc & advertised it on ebay on a sunday morning. We included a buy it now price & within 3 hours I received an email asking me what I'd take for the van. I emailed back that I change the buy it now to my price for 45 minutes & he bought the van.

That was the easy bit. I made the mistake of accepting his deposit before agreeing a collection date. This left me with a sold caravan on my drive for nearly three weeks before the man turned up with the notes & took it away. The man was as straight as a dye but, his problem was he'd sold his van & had to wait for it to go before he took mine. I turned down several offers for the van on the same day as I sold it & waited nearly three weeks wondering if I was going to be let down.

If I ever sell one on Ebay again, I'll be sure to establish a handover date before accepting a deposit sealing the deal from anyone. I didn't like where I was & won't do it without fully outlining my conditions again.
