Greetings,

Ive just heard from my daughter that some thieving scumbags have had it away with their new to them, 2005 Coastline 570. She and her husband have only had it a fortnight.

The Scum did this despite the 'van being fitted with an alarm, an alko hitchlock and a wheelclamp.

I'm not convinced that the blokes in Jeddah have got their punishment protocols wrong.

All I know at this time is that its gone from a CL in Oxford while other people were on site but presumably asleep. The frustrating thing as far as D and S in L are concerned is that the owner noticed on Saturday but didn't ring them until this morning.

Generally, we don't use CL's because of the security risk.  We have found the odd one where security isn't a problem, but these are as rare as the rocking horse proverbial.  They are usually a bit isolated from the CL owners and a van is especially vulnerable if left unattended and no other vans in occupation.  For CL's, our usage would be if we wanted to meet up with friends for a very short break, and were not going off site.

Their insurance covers them when they are not in occupation of the van.

The site was paid for in full so the insurance Co can go whistle. The insurance is 24hrs a day, not those bits they dont want to know about.

Further to the original thread entry, it transpires that the theft occurr overnight Fri/Sat. No one at the site thought it unusual that there was a gaping hole where there had been a caravan the day before BUT there was, on the pitch an abandoned Waste Hog, a double step and the sundry contents of the front locker that had been emptied.

You couldn't make it up.

Erm do tell us which site not to go to!

I don't know at the mo and, as a result of what I've been told I don't think I'll braodcast it just yet.

What site owner do you think would see a n amount of caravan paraphenalia where there was a van and not think"I wonder if the van has been stolen" and, having thought that, didn't do anything about it (including ringing the owner of the van) for over 48 hrs.

I said before "Something stinks" and its not in the state of Denmark!

I wish I had something Useful to say other than you have my sympathy, we should be able to reasonably put a caravan on site and return to find it still insitu

I bet the scumbags will say "oh well they will get a new van with insurance" failing to see that it will hit everyone in the pocket when premiums rise
