Hi,

Having ordered our first caravan we now need all the other kit including extension mirrors.

Can anyone recommend any? (we have no idea what to go for!)

Thanks

We use Pyramid "rock steady" mirrors.
Cost about £18 per pair!

They work, they dont fall off, and meet the new regs.

I use the ones which have the rubber bands - no problems and unlike the suck it and see which I tried they don't fall off, and don't obscure the original mirror.  E-compliant and cost me £10 the pair.

If suck it and see mirrors don't fall off - why do they come with a safety cord attached so you don't lose 'em?

The key to keeping 'suck-it-and' see from falling off is not to clean the wing mirrors/ car before use.  Ours only slid off once - just after taking the car to the car wash!.  However, I don't like the way you can't use the original car mirrors.  Although it's law to have them on if you can't see properly around your van, when towing, I still use my ordinary car mirrors even with any kind of extention on.

So that they can clatter against the side of your car and make nice dents in your door!

One not asked, what vehicle do you have? some mirrors are more suitable to some than others.

The safety cord is there for people who cant fit the mirror properly! Been using mine for over 4yrs now and never fallen off!

Methinks that's a lame explanation.  I've tried them on Vovlo, BMW, Mercedes and Audi all with the same result.  I've all sorts of people to have a go with the one I bought to try - not one has been able to get it to stay on  - I have a friend who is a trader and he's tried it too - no luck!  Maybe all my mirrors are made of the wrong material.

If it's there because I and others can't fit them properly then something must be wrong with the design.

Maybe they don't like German cars? but then you have them on a Passat.
